Santa Cruz Boardwalk

In June, Trek's mom, grandma, & Auntie from Washington flew in to visit Auntie Marc who lives in Santa Cruz.  Santa Cruz is less than an hour from us, so we visit Auntie a lot, but when we found out Oma, Grandma, & Auntie Char were going to be there too, we decided to go visit.

We all met at the boardwalk which is our favorite place in the world down there.  The kids love the rides & the beach, & let's be honest, I'm there for all that wonderful FAIR FOOD.

Bladen was excited this summer because he finally hit the 48" mark & could ride any of the rides.

Canyon loved having Oma there.

With Bladen's new freedom to ride ANYTHING on the pier, he chose the scariest ride you could go on.  Cadence rode it with him.

And though he was terrified, he was proud to say he rode it.

Canyon is my child; he goes for the best food.

We had cotton candy, chocolate covered bacon, dole whips, corn dogs, & dippin dots.  It was a pretty amazing food day.

And then the kids rode every ride they possibly could until they were completely worn out.

The very last ride we all rode was the log ride.  It's my girls' favorite ride.

It was a wonderful day to be with family, having fun,  & eating good food.  What a fun summer memory.

More Night Games

Night games ended up being a huge success this summer.  By August we had an average of 35 younger kids playing & 30 teens playing, most of which were members of our church.  It made it really really fun.

It was great getting to know these kids better.  It was a great summer.

Father's Day

The day after Girls Camp was Father's Day.  I tried really hard to get everything I needed to do for trek before I left for girls camp so that when I got home, I could give him a great Father's Day.

Unfortunately, Trek wound up with strep throat for his special day.  He had to stay in bed with a fever all day long, the poor guy.

But we still tried to spoil him the best we could.

At breakfast we gave him presents & cards.

And made him his favorite breakfast. . . bacon & biscuits & gravy.  He wound up drinking the gravy down, but couldn't swallow anything else because his poor throat hurt so bad.

But even though he didn't feel well, he was all smiles.  He's such a good dad.

By dinner time, the antibiotics had started doing their magic & he was able to eat his dinner.  I made him a spinach strawberry salad & mock chicken.  He LOVES mock chicken.

And my dear friend Luti, made the most beautiful lei for him for Father's Day.  It really was amazing.  He wore it all day long.  He loved it.

Happy Father's Day to the best dad in the world.  We love you Trek.
