May Fun

May was another month in quarantine, but we still found ways to have fun as a family, enjoy this beautiful country we live in, & have little adventures together.  There is much to be thankful for.

Nothing in the world compares to sunsets in Germany.

We've played a LOT of board games this month.

And bike riding is a new family favorite past time.  Sometimes all 8 of us take a ride, sometimes it's just Trek & I, & sometimes Trek takes turns with each of the kids.  There are SO many fabulous trails & forests here that you never have to go the same way twice.  We've done 2 mile trips, 6 mile trips, & 10 mile trips.  It's a BLAST.

We've had some rain, which always brings beautiful rainbows.

And wildflowers are in full bloom.  From dandelions, to poppys, to daisies, Canyon is always bringing me handfuls of beautiful bouquets.

Mother's Day was fun.  My kiddos surprised me with a brand new set of awesome pots & pans.  (I love to cook).  I bought my mom the FUNNIEST present ever!  She loves her little dog, Bella so I commissioned someone to paint a picture of a princess dress with Bella's face on it.  Isn't it the funniest thing you've ever seen?

We had many many more fun art, science, & writing projects during virtual school . . .

and Canyon managed to loose FOUR TEETH in May, including his front two teeth.

My braces are doing great too.  The gap in my lower teeth where they pulled a tooth is completely gone & everything is looking so straight & pretty.  I still have 18 more months, but it's fun seeing how my teeth are coming along.

We also celebrated Canyon's 7th birthday & visited a castle in May, but more on that in the next few posts.

May flew by.  I can't believe we're already in June (and STILL quarantined!)  This has been the fastest & strangest year ever.

Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I love that Star Wars day & Cinco de Mayo are right next to each other.  I love having reasons to celebrate.  And of course we have to have a TACO BAR to celebrate.  Tacos, burritos, 7 layer dip, all the good stuff.

We decided to try something new this year too.  Since the COVID quarantine has everything home bound right now, Disneyland posted some of their classic recipes for treats from the park.  I LOVE Disney churros.  The churro recipe was one of the first recipes they released so we decided to give it a try for Cindo de Mayo.  Oh my goodness, they were SO DELICIOUS & seriously easier than I thought.

Every Cinco de Mayo we play Loteria together as a family.  It's one of our favorite games.  It's basically Spanish Bingo & my kids love it.

It was such a fun day, with fun food, & fun games.

Happy Cinco de Mayo everybody!

May the 4th Be With You

May the 4th is always a favorite day at the Potter house.  Who doesn't love to celebrate a little Star Wars frome time to time?

Every year I try to make Star Wars themed foods, games, & movie marathons.  We were still in the middle of virtual school, but we still managed to have some Star Wars fun.

For breakfast I set up the table with all our fun Star Wars action figures (so we could play with them all day long), & surprised the kids with Death Star Waffles & grape light sabers.

May 4th is the one day a year I wear my Star Wars shirt.  (And for Star Wars movie premiers).

For lunch we had some yummy blue milk, Han-Burgers & Jabba-the Hutt-Dogs with Yoda cucumbers & Stormtrooper string cheese.

Cadence sent me the cutest meme for the day. . . Star Wars & music theory rolled into one.  I LOVED it.

For dinner we made BB-8 pizza, Vader-Taters, Vader-Veggies, & Yoda-Soda.

And don't forget our yearly tradition of poor Han Solo in Carbonite (aka Jello)

It was a fun day.  We ended up watching Phineas & Ferb's Star Wars Special instead of an actual Star Wars movie because we had a Star Wars marathon last month & the kids didn't want to watch them again, so Phineas & Ferb for the win.

It was a fun day.  May the 4th be with you!
