Announcements

We have some pretty exciting events coming up at the Potter house.  Big enough that we had announcements made.

First, on May 22nd, Canyon is getting baptized into our church.  Only family & a couple friends will be at the church for the baptism (still on COVID lockdown), but we will have friends from all around the world joining us virtually.

And on June 4th, Cadence is graduating from Ramstein High School.  Only Trek & I are allowed to attend her graduation in person, but we are excited that our family & friends around the world can watch it live via youtube.

Cinco de Mayo

The day after May the 4th (Star Wars Day) is Cinco de Mayo which is another favorite day to celebrate at our house.  How doesn't love a TON of Mexican food & a game of Loteria?

My kids invited a friend over to learn Loteria.  They had a blast playing together.

And of course we celebrated with a TON of Mexican food.  7 Layer Dip, Tostadas, Nachos, Tacos, Burritos, you name it, we ate it.  And it was SO good.

May the 4th Be With You

Hooray for MAY!!

May the 4th is one of my favorite
"holidays."

I know not every celebrates Star Wars Day, but we do at the Potter house.

I always make a big pan of Han Solo in Carbonite (jello) because it makes my kids laugh.

And grape light sabers are also a fun addition to the meal.

You can't have May the 4th without Death Star waffles.

And this year we added Smore Tie Fighters to the fun.

And after making all those dino sugar cookies for Bladen's party, my kids wanted some to eat so we did some Star Wars cookies.

And blue Bantha Milk to top it all off.

My kids always get a kick out of May the 4th.  They wear Star Wars shirts & can't wait for our Star Wars themed dinner.

Happy May & May the 4th be with you!

Bladen's 12th Dinosaur Birthday Party

Happy 12th Birthday to my Bladen!
This is Bladen's 2nd birthday stuck in lockdown, but he always makes the best of the situation.

We still wanted to celebrate our boy in the best way possible so I stayed up late the night before & decorated the house with all things DINOSAUR.  He was SO excited when he woke up & saw it all.

For birthday breakfast, Bladen wanted crepes, apple slices, & a birthday ding dong.

We also let him open his presents before school.  He was SO excited.

Craiger bought Bladen his very favorite thing in the world . . . chips & salsa!

His brothers & sisters got him a new addition to his knights & dragons collection.

Opa & Oma got him a new game for his Nintendo DS & a cool dino bone hat.  Bladen wants to be a palaeontologist someday so this was a perfect hat for him.

Trek & I got him a new Zelda game for his DS.  Zelda is his favorite.

Mimi & Baba got him a really cool book about dinosaurs & a piano tie for church.

My friend Nancy, got him all sorts of new clothes, dino books, & a dinosaur bedding set.

For his birthday dinner he picked lasagne, fresh pineapple, & baked beans
(an odd combination), but his favorite foods.

I also made a phone call to our Italian friend, Tony who drives an ice cream truck around this part of Germany.  He makes homemade gelato & brings it straight to your door.  He pulled his truck right up into our driveway & made us all some tasty treats as we sang to Bladen for his special day.

Since we couldn't have an in person party again this year, we found a way to celebrate with friends without actually having them here.  I made a bunch of orange dino sprinkle cupcakes (orange is Bladen's favorite color) & drove them with a bag of sour dino gummies to each of his friends' houses.  Then we did a zoom call & played online games for 2 hours with his friends.

I also took these cute dino sugar cookies to his friends to eat during the party.  They were almost too cute to eat.

His zoom birthday party was a huge hit & he was able to invite friends who lived nearby as well as kids in the states who he hasn't seen in a while.  It turned out wonderful.  I'm so grateful for such wonderful friends who make Bladen feel loved & important.

Happy birthday Bladen.  We love you so much.  You make us so proud.

Cadence's Cap & Gown Pics

What is happening?!?!?  How are we in May already?  How is my baby be old enough to graduate high school?  These pictures brought tears to my eyes.

Cadence is going to be an amazing adult human being & I'm SO very proud of everything she's accomplished & will accomplish in her life.  BYU is lucky to have her.

I'm grateful for her best friend Emily.  They've been such a dynamic duo this crazy year.
