Easter 2022

Luckily, all of us were finally out of quarantine the day before Easter.  Poor Canyon was our last COVID case & he was thrilled to be able to hang out with the family just in time for the easter egg fun.

Of course we started with our annual Potter Family Easter Egg Hunt.

As always, it was crazy. . . yelling, screaming, laughing, stealing, jumping, hiding, fun.

But the kids favorite part is always seeing who can find the most money in their eggs.

And as always, Canyon seems to find ALL the money in his eggs.  I don't know how he does it.

After our Easter egg hunt, we sat down to color Easter eggs together as a family.  Lorien insisted on wearing a mask because COVID was just leaving the house & PROM was the following weekend.  There was NO WAY Covid-19 was going to ruin her Junior Prom.  ha ha ha.

The Easter Bunny made a visit like he does every year.  We always love to see what fun things he brings the kids in their easter baskets.

The Easter Bunny also hid a lot of eggs around the house as well.

Each of the kids got ties or dresses for church & a stuffed animal or a small toy/item they'd like.  Then they got a LOT of candy.  German candy is the BEST.

 Happy Easter everyone.

April Happenings!

WOW!  Here I am 3 months behind on my blog again.  Sorry friends.  April, May, & June were just a whirlwind that flew by in a literal blink of an eye.  Be ready over the next few weeks to get bombarded with several international travel stories & pictures, some fun end of school excitement, Easter, 2 birthdays, & more. . .

April had a rocky start, but ended wonderfully.  In my last post, I told you all about our adventures on our family trip to Bavaria (Munich, Neutschwanstein) & it ended with Trek testing positive for COVID-19.  If I'm being honest, it went downhill for there.  Three days after Trek tested positive, Craiger & I tested positive.  Three days after that, Bladen & Taya tested positive. . . . FOUR days after that, poor little Canyon (who had pretty much spent over a week alone wandering the house by himself while we were locked in quarantine rooms finally got it & he was quarantined alone for a week.  Poor kid.  For over two full weeks, we were dealing with COVID in the house.  Lorien was the only one who didn't get it (probably because she had it in January & had a better immune system for it than we did).  That was one of the reasons April flew by so quickly for us.  I do count my blessings & am grateful that none of the kids had symptoms & that Trek & I were only really sick for a few days.  They were LONG, TERRIBLE days where we couldn't breath & coughing was unbearable after a while, but we made it through without complications.

While we all had COVID, it snowed several inches here. . . IN APRIL.  It was so bizarre, but the kids loved watching the snow fall from their rooms.  They wished they could go sledding with friends, but quarantining was more important this time around.

The beautiful yellow rapeseed fields were in full bloom in April.  It's my favorite time of year in Germany.  They are just gorgeous.

The BYU Ballroom team came & visited our area in April & Trek & Bladen took them to Berg Lichtenburg Castle while they were here.

Bladen grew three inches in April, putting him VERY close to Taya (spoiler alert!  He is her height as of today . . . June 23). She's not very happy about that.

Trek spoke about genealogy at a ladies paint night put on by our church & I painted a picture.

And Taya made her first full on meal from scratch for her health class.  She made sweet & sour chicken with ramen noodle stir fry.  It's a hard recipe & she did amazing.

We also built candy/graham cracker versions of the tabernacle for Family Home Evening to go along with our daily bible studies.  The kids loved that.

And Taya made me some cheesecake too.  YUM.
