Happy 46th Birthday to Trek!

January 25th, Trek turned 46 years old.  He was cabin camping with the boys, but we celebrated the day after they got home.

For his birthday breakfast, I made a traditional German style breakfast of meats/cheeses/veggies/jams/& breads.

We also had the typical scrambled eggs, bacon, bananas, & a ding dong.

The girls came up from college to spend the day with their dad.  I made my famous triple chocolate fudge peanut butter cake & lorien (& the rest of the kids), helped with the frosting. . . . by putting it directly into their mouths INSTEAD of on the cake!

For his birthday dinner, I made Trek some mock chicken, salad, & fruit.

He opened his presents from Nancy, & from us.  Nancy always sends him some fun clothes & shoes for the new year.  She loves shopping for Trek.

Then it was cake & ice cream time!

Mmmmm. . . . cake!

Happy Birthday Trekkie!  We love you.

Winter Cabin Camping Trip

Towards the end of January, the boys went with Trek & other boys in the neighborhood on a winter cabin camping adventure.  They spent 2 whole days in a cabin up in the mountains of Utah sledding, skiing, snowboarding, & more.

They had a blast!

Bladen Finishes His Computer

It's been almost a full year in the making, but Bladen finally finished his fully functioning PC computer.  He started working as a janitor at the elementary school last year & has saved every paycheck & put it towards computer parts.  Piece by piece, he's slowly acquired everything he needs for his own PC computer & in January he finally ordered his last piece.

Trek & Bladen put the last piece on the mother board together & turned the computer on for the very first time.

Bladen was SO excited when he saw the lights come on for the first time.

He was one very happy boy.  Now he uses the computer for homework, & likes to play Minecraft & a few other vintage 90's games on it.  It is his pride & joy.  I'm proud of him for researching, learning, & doing something new.  He's amazing.

Ladies Ballroom Performance - Taya

In January, Taya had another big ladies ballroom dance performance at Brighton High School.  We always have so much fun getting her all dressed up with hair & make-up & in costume.  She always invites 1-2 friends from the team to come over & help get ready with her too.

This competition was great.  They performed 2 numbers - Kiss Kiss Bang & Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie (which is my favorite).

The Ladies Ballroom Team were "guest performers" for the drill team region competition so they performed, but were not judged this time around.  They danced their hearts out & did a wonderful job.  Taya is growing leaps & bounds in dance.  It makes me so happy to see her do something she loves.
