Harvest Time

For our Spouses' meeting in November we had a wonderful lady come & teach us all how to do toll painting. I have NO talent when it comes to this type of painting, but she was a WONDERFUL teacher & in the end, my project looked really good. I was very pleased. We had a great time together! Thanks COMM ladies for a fun night!

Kazoos & Streamers

At Creative Critters yesterday we made streamers to dance with & kazoos to hum in. It was music day & we had fun singing & dancing. We got to play with shakers & drums too. Taya loves it when we go. She always has so much fun. She loved her kazoo & streamer.

She also discovered the wall mirrors this time around. I wondered how long it would take her to find them & just stand & stare at herself. We've been 3 times now & she finally found them, & yes, she stood & stared & smiled & kissed & licked herself several times. Ick! Silly girl. At least she had fun right?

Taya! Taya! Taya!

A couple nights ago, I had a meeting I had to be at & Trek was actually working via video conference to the states from our back bedroom. He was sweet enough to attempt to do it from home so I could make it to my meeting. The deal was that I was to get the kids into the bathtub & then he would get them out so I could make it on time for the meeting. I left & everything was working as planned. He had a 15 minute break in his video conference meeting to get the kids ready & in bed. He first got Taya out of the bathtub & got her dried off & dressed in her PJ's. Then it was Lorien's turn. He left Lorien to dress herself, because she is old enough. Then he went to wash Cadence's hair in the shower (she won't take baths). As he was getting her out, he noticed it was awfully quiet. Taya is ALWAYS making some kind of noise. He immediately dropped what he was doing & started searching for Taya hoping she wasn't causing any trouble.

This is what he found:

Sure enough, as he looked into the girls' bathroom, Taya was sitting in the bathtub STILL FULL OF WATER in her pajamas. She was soaked to the bone & laughing hysterically at daddy's face. To make matters worse, Trek went to grab her & slipped on the bathroom floor & fell. Taya had emptied half the bath water onto the floor with a cup. So now Taya was a mess again & she had flooded the bathroom - all within a couple minutes while Trek washed Cadence's hair. Needless to say, poor Trekkie was late for his video conference.

I love you Trekkie! Thank you for your sacrifice. (but as a reminder. . . ALWAYS empty the bath water as the kids are getting out. Taya loves to try to get back in!)

Bye Aubree!

We were all very sad when it was time to say good-bye to Aubree. It was SO MUCH FUN having her here to visit. The girls are going to miss her. She is the best "house" player they've ever played with. Thank you Aubree for all the fun & all the help you were while you were here. You are welcome at our house any time! Love you!

Carving Pumpkins

After the school carnival, we went back to the house to carve pumpkins. We bought 4 huge pumpkins. Daddy gutted 2, Aubree gutted 1, & Cadence gutted 1.

Since there were 4 pumpkins, each of the kids got to choose one & daddy & mommy carved the faces they wanted in them.

Daddy carved a scary face for Bladen:

Mommy carved a scary face (with eyebrows. . . her request) for Cadence:

Daddy carved a long frowny face for Lorien:

And Daddy carved a happy silly face for Taya:

I love carving pumpkins. It's one of my favorite Halloween traditions.

Halloween Carnival

On Halloween Day Cadence's school had their annual fall carnival. It was a blast because we all got to wear our costumes & play carnival games & eat yummy food.

We met up with Cadence & Lorien's friends Ally & Maddie who looked adorable.

Then we played a bunch of carnival games outside like "fishing" & "ring toss" & "beanbag throw." The girls won LOTS of candy & toys playing the games. They were having a blast.

Then we went inside & did the cake walk. The girls each played twice & all three of them won at least once, which means we came home with a whole pumpkin cake, 13 cupcakes, & 2 dozen peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Whoo hoo!

Then we ate frito pies, hotdogs, chips, & drinks. Talk about a fun day! We all had a blast!

Happy Halloween

Halloween was WONDERFUL!! We had SO MUCH FUN!

Aubree, Trek's cousin, came to visit for the weekend. She is living in Switzerland as an au pair right now so we thought it would be fun to have her over. We all had a blast together.

Trunk or Treat

Tonight was our church's trunk or treat. The girls always LOVE the trunk or treat. First we read the 12 days of Halloween story, & then the kids went nuts trick or treating from car trunk to car trunk. There were SO MANY KIDS there. It was so much fun. After trick or treating, we had hot chocolate & homemade donuts. Mmmm. We all had a blast!

Prince & Princess

Finally, I finished my Princess Aurora costume & Trek's Prince Phillip costume. I'm pleased with how they turned out. We're going to be cute for Halloween for sure! I love my handsome prince!
