Camp Tonsofun: Day 3

Day 3 of Camp Tonsofun was a BLAST.

The kids found ring pops on the toilets after they cleaned the bathrooms with notes that thanked them for always cleaning the "RING" out of the toilets. They love finding their special notes.

For the activity of the day, I took them to a little grove of trees by the grocery store for a picnic with friends. The trees there are perfect for climbing & they had fun. They played tag, hide & seek, & then ate in the treetops. I enjoyed talking with my friends too. It was fun for everyone.

Poor Bladen wanted to chase, climb, & run too. . . but his toe was getting the best of him. He was limping around trying to keep up, but he always wound up back in my lap for snuggles & kisses. I LOVED IT!

The big chore for the day was cleaning the garage. Our friend found a Black Widow in her garage this morning so we were TOTALLY PARANOID going into our garage. Luckily, we found only one spider & it didn't stand a chance against this
momma bear!

I'm SO happy we cleaned the garage. Now my food storage looks fantastic, the clothes bins are stacked nicely in the back, & we made
parking places for all the bikes.
I love seeing everything clean, dust free, & organized!

After sweating in the garage, we came inside for Craft Time. Today I let them decorate plant pots & they each planted some flowers. They were SO excited to have their own flowers to take care of.

It was Lorien's special day for dinner so we ate her favorite:
Spaghetti & Meatballs & Garlic Breadsticks.
It was DELICIOUS (compared to the chicken nuggets & cereal we ate the night before).

Everybody told Lorien what they loved most about her & she got to pick a story for bedtime.

Day 3 was a total SUCCESS.

Camp Tonsofun: Day 2

WOW! Camp Tonsofun wasn't so fun the morning of Day 2.

Bladen was limping on day one, but I couldn't figure out why. His foot looked fine & he could still walk on it, so I assumed it was fine. But by day 2, he was really babying that left foot. After he brushed his teeth, he reached up to put away his toothbrush & stood on his tippy toes. There was DEFINITELY something WRONG with that toe because he winced in pain & fell backwards hitting his head on the side of the bathtub. He started crying & I went to console him & noticed blood streaming down his back. AAAAAAAAH!

I scooped him up, along with the other 5 KIDS & rushed to the
Emergency Room.
We were there for about 4 hours & the kids were WONDERFUL! I really have the best kids in the world. They were able to stop the bleeding in the back of his head without stitches, thank heavens. But they were concerned about his foot. His big toe was red, swollen, & burning hot with a fever. It was infected BAD! They took him in for some x-rays because the doctor was certain his toe was broken. But the x-rays didn't show any breaks anywhere. He still thinks it is broken somewhere because of the infection. He said that Bladen probably stubbed his toe a few days ago & broke it somewhere & it got infected. He probably didn't start limping until the pain from the infection kicked in. They gave him some antibiotics & sent us home. (They can't cast a toe unfortunately.) The antibiotics should take away the infection (redness, swelling, & fever) within 2 days. I'm supposed to bring him back if it doesn't go away.

But we survived the craziness. The funniest part was that I was going to the bathroom way too much while we were there & the doctor had me take a urine test. I guess I have a kidney infection & I've been so stressed with everything going on that I've been too busy to realize it. So I got some antibiotics too! Thank heavens for such a great, observant doctor.

We finally got home around 1:00. Bladen wanted to show off one of his blood stained tissues & his big 1/2" cut in the back of his head. SUCH A BOY!

We all had a good nap to help relax after such a hectic morning. When we woke up, we continued with Camp Tonsofun by cleaning our backyard, side of the house, driveway, front yard, & sidewalk. It was a BEAUTIFUL day & cleaning the yard is always fun for me. I love making the outside of my house sparkle & shine!

Bladen was doing better after our nap. He was still limping around & refused to walk anywhere, but he was happy in a chair watching the rest of us get the yard done.

For our Camp Craft we made Father's Day cards for Daddy. Each of the kids picked out a card at the store & then we spent an hour writing letters to him & drawing pictures in them. They are SO excited to give them to Daddy on Sunday.

When the kids set the table for dinner, they found Hello Kitty chocolate sticks at their place setting with a note thanking them for "Sticking" to their chores every day. They loved the chocolate!

It was Taya's special night for dinner. We had her very favorite food: Oatmeal Squares Cereal, bananas, & blueberry muffins. Taya loves breakfast foods. We each went around the table & told Taya why we love her so much & then she chose the book "Silverlicious" for bedtime.

Even though it was a crazy morning, the day ended well for all of us.
Camp Tonsofun
was fun again & we were having a blast as a family.

Camp Tonsofun: Day 1

We love Camp Tonsofun! Tons & tons of FUN! We do the chores til they're all done, Tons & tons of fun!

We started Camp Tonsofun working on summer morning & evening routines. Each of the kids thought of 5 things they were going to do every morning to get the day started out right & every night before they go to bed. I was VERY happy with some of the things they chose.

Each of the kids found a little note on their beds (after they made them) that thanked them for always making their beds nice & "FLUFFY" every morning. There was also a bag of FLUFFY cotton candy for each of them. They LOVED that!

For our CAMP CRAFT for the day we made a homemade pinata for our field day on Saturday. The kids had a BLAST tearing up newspapers & magazines we had around the house into little strips to add to our paper mache pinata. I cooked up some
HOMEMADE GLUE
(5 parts water to 1 part flour)
& we blew up a balloon & glued the paper strips all around it. It will take about 4 days to dry so we did it on day 1 so it would be ready to fill & break on Saturday.

Our family activity for the day was coming up with our Camp Tonsofun skit.
Cadence & Lorien made up new words to "Old McDonald Had A Farm" & they acted it out on camera.
(I will have to upload the video when Trek is home since I'm computer dumb & don't know how to do it)

"We love Camp Tonsofun, tons & tons of fun. We do the chores til they're all done, tons & tons of fun! With a sweep sweep here & a sweep sweep there, here a sweep, there a sweep, everywhere a sweep sweep!" It was a blast!

Day 1 was Bladen's special day so I made his very favorite dinner: chicken nuggets & oranges. Not my favorite thing in the world, but he LOVED it. At dinner we went around the table & all of us told Bladen why we love him so much. Then for bedtime, Bladen got to pick his favorite book for me to read to them.

It was a great first day of camp! We can't wait for tomorrow!

Cadence's class had a really fun last day of school party as well. It started after Lorien's ended so it was PERFECT! All the parents brought yummy lunch foods & we fed Ms. Davis' class as a final farewell to a WONDERFUL 2nd GRADE YEAR!

Cadence LOVED Ms. Davis. She is very sad to say good-bye, but she is also REALLY excited to be a 3rd GRADER!

Lorien's Kindergarten Graduation

My little LORIEN isn't a baby anymore. She's a
1st Grader.
This school year just flew by TOO quickly.

On the last day of school, Lorien's class had a small Kindergarten graduation ceremony. The kids were absolutely adorable. They each gave their mom's a flower for helping them succeed in Kindergarten this year.

Then they were called up one by one to get their graduation certificate from Mrs. Fairman. I'm going to miss her. She was one of the best teachers I've ever worked with. She was SO GOOD to these kids.

After the ceremony, the parents all presented Ms. Fairman with a gift card & flowers. And then much to my surprise, they also gave me a picture frame signed by each of the kids thanking me for teaching music this year. And then Ms. Fairman gave me some flowers & a gift card to Target. It made me feel so good. Teaching music was SO FUN this year. I'm going to miss this class SO MUCH.

After awards, we just sat around & partied with friends. Everyone said good-bye to everyone else & we ate LOTS of yummy food. Being in the military it's kind of hard because a LOT of these kids will move this summer & we'll probably never see them again. Military kids are SO STRONG to move from school to school. I'm grateful I have such fun kids who make friends easily. My kids are the BEST!

It's been a great school year. Congratulations Lorien!
I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!
