Dr. Suess Week & Book Character Day

My girls' schools always do something fun for Dr. Suess week.  This year Lorien & Taya's school did a "dress up like a hobby you enjoy" day where both girls put on aprons & chef hats & were "cooks" for the day.  They seemed to enjoy that.

Then at Cadence's school they did an actual Book Character Day.
Cadence decided to dress up like Aphrodite from the Goddess Girls book series.  She did the costume all by herself by draping a blanket & some of my fabric around her clothes to make it look like goddess robes.  She added flowers to dress it up even more.

She asked me to braid pink ribbon through her hair in a roman sort of way.
I did the best I could.  ha ha ha.

Then she asked me to put mascara on her eyelashes.  I didn't want to because she's still so young, but morbid curiosity got the better of me & I wanted to see how long her lashes really were because they're so blond & see-through.  Holy WOW.  She's got gorgeous Potter lashes like her dad.  I wish my lashes were that full & beautiful.  The mascara bothered her, so she washed it off as soon as she got to school which makes me laugh, but it was fun seeing how long they really were.

It turned out to be such a fun week for all of us.

Mardi Gras

Who doesn't love a good Mardi Gras celebration?

We celebrated Mardi Gras the week before Trek came home to help pass the time & we had a blast with it.  My friend Nancy sent some masks & beads as well as a King Cake mix.

Last year Cadence found the baby in her piece of King Cake so she had to make the cake by herself this year.  She did an amazing job.  I'm very proud of her cooking skills & how much she's learned over the last year.  She's going to be a great cook.

Yum!  Taya found the baby in her piece of cake this year so she gets to make the cake next year.  It will be a fun project we can do together.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Amazing Discoveries

I love being a mom of both girls & boys.  It's fun seeing my little boys grow into their little personalities.  They crack me up.

Canyon is discovering all sorts of magical things around the house right now.  He discovered our shower & that it's wet like a swimming pool in the mornings.
He prefers exploring the shower when he's fully dressed. . .

He's also discovered this magical white rolly thingy.  You spin it & tons of magical white paper swirls around you.  You can eat it, you can wrap up in it like a blanket, & it does magical things when you shove it into the toilet & get it wet.  Expansion. . . Clogs. . . MAGICAL.

The weather here has been gorgeous lately.  Of course we're supposed to get MORE SNOW this week, but this last week was beautiful.  We took advantage of it when many bike rides around the lake.  The boys LOVE riding their bikes & I love walking with them.

Craiger's 3rd Family Birthday Party

Craiger waited patiently all day long for his sisters to get home from school so we could celebrate his birthday with dinner & presents.

He was SO excited for me to make his favorite dinner:
Cheese Pizza
French Fries
Cantaloupe, Apples, & Strawberries
& Milk

The Potter's are big pizza lovers.  Bladen & Craiger can eat an entire pizza between the two of them.  I'm not looking forward to their teenage years.  They're going to eat me out of house & home.

My girls also love pizza.  They get the pizza love from their daddy.  (NOT ME. . . I hate pizza)

Even Canyon likes his fair share of pizza crust goodness.

After dinner, we all gathered around & let Craiger open his presents from family.  Since Daddy is still gone, we made sure he was on video chat so he could watch Craiger's excitement.

Mimi & Baba got him a letter laptop.

Taya, Bladen, & Canyon got Craiger a big sticker book where
there are papers of giant place settings & tons of food stickers
that Craiger can put all over the plates, bowls, & cups.

Auntie Char & Uncle Jay got him Hungry
Hungry Hippos
Mamoo got him a great elephant game

Auntie Cari & Uncle Justin got him a fishing
game he's been wanting for some time now.

Lorien spent her allowance money & got him a mosaic craft set
like hers. . . but for a 3 year old.  They've been crafting together
all morning long.

Cadence bought Craiger a transformer dinosaur with her allowance.

Trek & I got him a balance bike to help him with his balance
before we get him a real bike.  We're hoping this quickens the
bike learning process for him (& maybe Bladen too)

He was pretty excited.

But his favorite present of the day was from
Opa & Oma.  They got him a HUGE transformer
T-Rex robot dinosaur that obeys your voice
commands.  It's super cool.

He played with it all day long & slept with it
last night.  (He kept getting mad because it was
too big for his bed & it kept falling out.)

Happy Birthday Monster!!  We love you so much & can't wait for your big boy Batman birthday party in 2 weeks when daddy comes home.

Craiger's Birthday Breakfast

February is finally at it's close which means ONE MORE Potter birthday to celebrate.  This time it's my little Craiger Man's birthday.  He turned 3 on February 28th.

For his special birthday breakfast he wanted Dinosaur Egg oatmeal, bananas, & of course the Potter Birthday Breakfast Ding Dong with a candle in it.

5:30 am comes super fast.  Sometimes it's SO hard to wake up that early, even on your birthday.

But once he got his eyes open & saw his special breakfast sitting there, he was beyond happy.  He couldn't wait to blow out his candle & scarf up the yummy food.

I still can't believe Craiger is 3 years old already.  My babies aren't babies anymore & it makes me sad.  I wish they could stay babies forever.

At least I still have this little guy to keep me in baby mode, even if it's just for a little while longer.

Happy birthday Craiger.  We love you so much & are so happy you're part of our family.

Lorien's Family Birthday Party

After school, Lorien came home super excited because she knew after homework we could open presents.  She got all sorts of really nice things from our family.

Opa & Oma gave her some Legos & a Lego book.

Daddy surprised her with a Rainbow Loom
to make up for him being gone on her special
day.

Mimi & Baba gave her a Lego Juice Bar.

Mamoo gave her a Style Barbie.

Taya gave Lorien the monkey she sleeps with
every night.  It's Taya's favorite toy & it was
so sweet of her to gift it to her sister.  I love how
much my girls love each other.

Cadence bought her a Lego lifeguard set.

My friend Nancy sent some fun clothes, a puzzle,
a rock set, & some nail polish.

Auntie Cari & Uncle Justin sent a mosiac craft.

Grandma Kinsfather sent $10 to spend however she
wants.

The boys got her some rubber bands for her rainbow loom.

And Trek & I got her a Merida Lego set & a storage
case for her Lego people.

For her special dinner she asked me to make taco salad, kiwi, & kook-aid.  Taco salad is a favorite in the Potter house so everyone was excited for dinner this time around.  And kiwis are another favorite.  Everyone had a very happy & yummy dinner.

Happy 9th Birthday my sweet little Lolo.  You bring so much happiness & joy to our family.  We love you so very much.
