Hurricane Relief - Part 2

Cadence & Lorien got to go down with Trek the 2nd weekend for hurricane relief.  In fact, a lot of the youth (ages 12-18) went down that 2nd time to help with the clean up.  Since the Trunk or Treat was on Friday the 26th, they all got up at 3am on Saturday the 27th & drove down to FL so they could be ready to work by 6:30 am.

Lorien was excited because she got to drive a "tractor."

They were tasked with a ton of yard clean up.

The girls loved having some of their best friends there to work with them.

They had a TON of fun & they got a LOT of work done for those who needed it.

I love that they had this opportunity to serve.

Trunk or Treat

This year, I had the opportunity to be in charge of the Trunk or Treat at our church.  My best friend here, & partner in crime, headed it up with me & we had a blast.

It was probably the biggest, most extravagant Trunk or Treat I've ever done, but it was really fun for the adults & for the kids.

Mary is an artist & has been in charge of a bazillion of these (like me) so she had SO many decorations she'd painted already, & then painted some fun cut-outs for kids to put their faces in too.  She is AMAZING.

We spent a good chunk of a full day decorating the church.  We put up tables & chairs, all of Mary's painted decor on the walls, & then Mary's sister came down & helped us create this amazing spider web on the ceiling of the church.

We used every free room in the church to set up carnival games.  Each game had a storybook theme & we decorated it accordingly.  We had 16 rooms total:

Cupcake Walk
Grand Prize Game
Ring Toss
Angry Birds Game
Spider Toss
Balloon Stomp
Spinning Wheel
Fishing Game
Musical Chairs
Tic Tac Toe Race
Bean Bag Toss
Dance Party Room
Bows & Arrows
Puzzles
Plinko
Bubble Room

The kids LOVED the games.

My kids were SO excited about the trunk or treat.  They love wearing their costumes.  Cadence had a football game that night so she had to miss out.  She was SO sad.

We had a great turn-out.  We had a potluck dinner & chili cook-off.  We had a pumpkin carving contest & a costume parade as well.  After the costume parade & games we did the trunk or treat outside in the parking lot.

The adults chatted in the main room, while the kids played the carnival games run by the teenagers.  I

Overall, it took us over 14 hours to decorate which was exhausting, but it was SO worth it.  The families had a blast.  And with everyone's help it only took 30 minutes to take the whole thing down.

It was my favorite trunk or treat ever.
