Trek as Edward Scissorhands from "Edward Scissorhands"

 

Trek claimed his character first when we announced the theme.  He's been wanting to be Edward Scissorhands for YEARS & finally got to do it.

And he was HILARIOUS!  At the farm we took pictures at, he was "cutting" all the bushes & trees, posing with anything & everything he could, & oh my goodness, he even chased some kids & families & it was HILARIOUS.  The parents were laughing SO HARD.

I sure love this man of mine that always puts up with my shenanigans.  He's the best of the best.

Dani as Willy Wonka from "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory"

 

I got to be Willy Wonka this year.  It was a fun character & a super fun costume.  This was another movie we hadn't seen in a really long time & had fun watching as a family in preparation for Halloween.  Johnny Depp is just an amazing actor that immerses himself in every character he plays.

When we mentioned Johnny Depp characters to the family as Taya's theme this year, Canyon yelled "I call Rango!"  I don't think a single one of us had ever even seen that movie or known that Johnny Depp was in it.  So, of course, we had to watch it.

Guys!  It's hilarious!  Yes, it's a stupid movie with very little plot, but the one liners & characters are absolutely hilarious.  So Canyon got his wish & got to be Rango in all his chameleon & Hawaiian shirt glory.  And he was adorable.

Craiger as Gellert Grindelwald from "Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them"

 

Craiger was SUPER excited to be Gellert Grindelwald from "Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them."

Not many people remember that Johnny Depp was the villain of that entire series.  Craiger enjoyed growing his hair out so he could spike it & color it a greyish blond.  He hated the mustache, but it was a must for the character.

I actually REALLY LOVED this costume.  I bought a lot of the costumes this year because I've been so busy with wedding things, but this one I found thrifted pieces or bought pieces off amazon & altered them to fit the character & it was SO MUCH FUN.

Craiger is a character in real life.  While we got pictures taken, he would point his wand at EVERY SINGLE PERSON walking past us & yell "Avada Kadavra!"  We were all laughing SO hard every time he did it.  One pair of joggers literally stopped, turned around, & said, "Did you just Avada Kadavra me?"  We all laughed really hard at that.

I also love how our photographer edited his eyes to match Gridelwald's eyes (one dark, one light).  This one was one of my favorites.

I had completely forgotten that Johnny Depp voiced the main character from that movie.  We had to watch it again as a family to fully grasp Johnny Depp's range as an actor.  It's such a bizarre movie, but great for Halloween.  Bladen completely went all in with growing out his hair & styling it like the character, then dying it BLACK!  He also spent the most time getting make up done that morning.  What a trooper.
