Atlanta Weinachtsmarkt

Trek's German teacher told their class that Atlanta had a pretty good German Weinachtsmarkt every Christmas & that the students should try to go out to visit it.  Since we had just learned that we are indeed moving back to Germany
(SQUEAL)
we took the family to enjoy the season German-style.

Atlanta is HUGE.  It's only 2.5 hours from us which isn't bad.  But I didn't realize how big it is.

The German Weinachtsmarkt was tiny. . . like tiny tiny, but absolutely adorable.  Most people would see how small it was & say it was a waste of a day, but it was SO nice just getting even that tiny bit of German culture that I miss so much.

Cadence is taking a German class through BYU Independant study right now, so we took lots of pictures of her here for her "German Experience" writing assignment.  ha ha ha

We also couldn't pass up the candied nuts.  One of my favorite smells from Germany is the candied almonds & cashews at Christmastime.  Every city square has someone roasting them on the street & the smell is AMAZING.

They had all sorts of fun German goods for sale at the little huts.  Weinachts Pyramids, Smoking Men, Leibkuchen, Gluwein, Baked Goods, it was great.

My favorite part was the food . . . surprise surprise.  I love food.  I ate a huge doner kebap while the kids enjoyed cinnamon sugar pretzels & cheese pretzels.  Trek ordered a big bratwurst with fries.  We shared it all together & it was delicious.

It was small, but it was sweet & I'm so glad we took the time to go down & visit it.  The kids had fun & it was nice getting a little taste of Germany right here in the South.
