This year was HARD. There was so much going on, we were still in & out of lockdowns here in Germany, I had to get my oldest to college, & more. . . but I still miraculously was able to pull together Halloween costumes IN TWO MONTHS!
The kids chose Nightmare Before Christmas this year which is our all time favorite Halloween movie. We watch it every single year & love the songs, the characters, & the fun. Our favorite time to go to Disneyland is October so we can see the Haunted Mansion all dressed up with Jack Skellington & his friends. We've been waiting to do this theme for a while now.
All the costumes were fairly easy this year except one. . . oogie boogie! I bought Trek's Jack costume & I also bought my Sally costume. I found an adorable Zero stuffed toy that I made into a hat for Canyon so he could be Zero. We just put him in black with a white sheet & the hat. For Lock, Shock, & Barrell I just used things I already had on hand & added lace, felt bones, or paint to. But that OOGIE was truly a
NIGHTMARE!
I bought 15 yards of Burlap (which is AWFUL to sew with) & thank heavens I did because I had to re-make Lorien's costume FOUR TIMES before I liked it. The body of the costume was fine, but that mask was a pain. I FINALLY decided to stop treating it like a mask & instead made it into a beautiful hood with her face peeking out of the mouth & it turned out just the way I wanted it to. Thank heavens.
Our church's Halloween party is always my favorite party of the year. We always have so much fun dressing up as a family. Trek even shaved his head & let me paint him like Jack.
I had a blast with Sally's make-up.
We also got family pictures taken at the castle by our house. Our photographer had a blast taking pictures of us in costume. We had several people at the castle ask to have pics taken with us as well. It was funny.
Happy Halloween!
