This sweet boy has needed braces for YEARS. But we move so often that every orthodontist we see refuses to put braces on him because they won't finish by the time we leave. I totally get it though. I definitely don't want to pay for the same treatment on the same kiddo twice AGAIN.
(We learned that lesson with Cadence moving from VA to CA with braces still on.)
Finally we are somewhere for a good amount of time & we saw an orthodontist right away so we could get started. We got his problem tooth pulled & we were ready for braces.
His poor mouth is a mess. They said it would take about 3.5 years of braces to fix it. We are doing it in stages because there is so much that needs to be done.
Phase 1 is his bottom teeth & an expander on top. The expander is attached to his top back teeth & we get to use a little screwdriver to expand his upper palette once a day so that we can make room for all those crowded teeth he's got up there.
For his bottom teeth, phase one's goal is to pull/push the teeth even height so they line up & to pull his back bottom teeth upward because they lean sideways toward his tongue so when he chews, he chews the sides of his teeth rather than the top.
The orthodontist thinks that in January he might be ready to put braces on the top teeth. We'll see. That would start Phase 2.
He's got a long road ahead of him, but it's going to be SO good for him in the long run. I love this kiddo so much. He's a trooper & I can't wait to see the finished product.
