Mimi's Viewing - April 4th, 2025

My sweet mother passed away on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025.  We did her viewing the following week on her birthday, April 4th.  My dad was looking healthy & strong.  I never would have believed that he would pass away 2 months later.

My mom looked beautiful in her pink casket.  Pink was her favorite color so she would have loved it.  The viewing was beautiful.  We saw so many family & friends from over the years.  We had a beautiful memorial table set up for her showing off her favorite pictures, things (like cherries), & some of her artwork.  My mom was an incredible woman.

My favorite decoration was this beautiful archway Cari put together filled with polaroid pictures of my mom as a little girl & teenager.  Those pictures of her were priceless.

Taya's Spring 2025 Orchestra Concert

And one day after the pinewood derby was Taya's Spring Orchestra Concert.  I know my mom was there supporting her as well.  My mom loved music.

Taya has really grown as a violist this year.  Her skill & technique have grown considerably & she loves it.  It makes my heart happy to know she has grown to love this.  She plays so beautifully.

Opa & Oma got to watch this concert as well, which made it extra special.

Pinewood Derby 2025

The day after Bladen's percussion concert was our church group's pinewood derby.

With everything that happened with my mom, I wasn't very good at helping my kiddos get their pinewood derby cars made.  Luckily, I've got the best husband in the world & he took care of it with the kids while I was in the hospital with mom, as well as the week I was preparing for her funeral.  Together, Trek & the kids made some pretty creative pinewood derby cars.

Craiger created a cybertruck with metallic paint.

Bladen's car was titled "Roadkill" & was a smashed rat with tire tracks on it.

Taya went full on barbie mode with her car.  She make a Barbie flip phone which cracked me up.  She cut her car in half lengthwise & added hinges so it would open up like a flip phone.  Because it was so big & bulky, her car won the SLOWEST car award.  It didn't place in a single race. . . we're talking slow slow slow.  But it was the "coolest" car there & she won the "most creative" award.

Canyon made the most adorable SHARK car I've ever seen with fins & all.

This was a really fun activity for the youth in our neighborhood.  SO MANY PEOPLE participated & we did 2 hours of races.  It was a blast.

At the very end, they did a "POTTER ONLY" race where the 4 kiddos raced each other.  Craiger won & Taya lost badly, but it was so much fun.

Bladen's Spring 2025 Percussion Concert

I'm so sorry it's been so long since I've updated my blog!  My mom died, we got through the funeral, & then out of nowhere my dad passed away just 2 months after my mom did.  I've been crazy busy taking care of life, my parents house, cars, assets, bank accounts, etc all while grieving over losing both parents in less than 2 months.  It's been crazy.  But I'm determined to get caught up on all the things in life I've let fall through the cracks during this time, including my blog.  I may be slow, but I'll get it done!

Bladen's Spring Percussion concert was a week after my mom passed away.  I know she was there in spirit to watch Bladen perform.  Bladen did AMAZING (like usual).  We are so proud of him.  We found out here that he made the advanced percussion ensemble for next year.  We are SUPER excited for him.  He's amazing.

Opa & Oma were in town for my mom's funeral so we were SUPER excited that they got to come watch Bladen perform.

We love you buddy boy!  You're amazing.
