Another holiday, another fun celebration.
Taya's favorite holiday is St. Patrick's Day. None of us can quite figure out why, (I think it's hilarious), but she LOVES it.
We have a leprechaun that comes every St. Patrick's Day & leaves a treasure hunt throughout the house with activities, treats, & games to play to keep them busy all day long. She really looks forward to that every year.
The Leprechaun's GREEN treasure at the end of the day! |
Sure enough, the leprechaun
left a large box of GREEN lucky charms for breakfast
along with a clue to start out our treasure hunt.
Each clue (there were about 6) led to another activity to complete. Each clue had times written on them so that the hunt would last all day.
My friend Nancy sent everyone a green gift. The girls got green shoes, the boys all got green shirts, & I got a green sweater.
The kids' favorite clue/activity of the day was "Don't Eat Pete." They love it because it's a fun game to play AND they get to eat skittles while they play it. They crack me up.
For St. Patrick's Day dinner every year, I always make a fruit rainbow which the kids LOVE. This year I made shamrock shaped pasta with green alfredo sauce, pear applesauce (green), & green jello. The kids loved it.
Another favorite is green Mint Chocolate Chips shakes for dessert. They look forward to them every year.
At the end of all the clues, they found the leprechaun's treasure full of green candy, cookies, & necklaces. They were pretty excited.
Happy St. Patty's Day everyone.
