Trek always manages to find HARD things to do here. He found a hike that happens once a year in Bavaria that you have to hike for 30+ km (about 22 miles) up & down the beautiful Bavarian mountains with a 50 pound rucksack on your back. And of course this hike happened on a day where it rained the entire day & was 40 degrees outside.
He loved every second of it. He had some guys from his work join him as well as his best friend from church. They hiked for 10 hours straight through rain, freezing cold temperatures, & carrying 1/3 of his weight on his back. When he got home, he could barely walk, he had a touch of frostbite on some of his fingers & toes, & he just looked like death, but boy was he proud of himself. ha ha ha.
Germany presented him with a beautiful Edelweiss pin & a certificate showing he completed the task in the time allotted. He is SO proud of that certificate. He told me he'd never do it again (or at least not carrying a 50 pound backpack), but he is so glad he did it.
