Tropical Islands Water Park

Over Labor Day we were FINALLY given the thumbs up to travel a little bit again, however we still couldn't leave Germany (COVID you're ruining my travel plans).

So we planned a quick trip up to Berlin for the long weekend.  We found a cute little airbnb apartment right in the heart of Berlin next to the famous TV Tower.  It was perfect because we could walk anywhere from that point to see all the popular tourist sites of city.  Our first morning, we walked to the local bakery & ate "berliners" in Berlin.  (berliners are donuts).

So, after the war (WWII), there were a lot of things just left behind here in Germany.  What do you do with a giant blimp hanger in the middle of nowhere just outside of Berlin?  Turn it into a HUGE WATERPARK of course!

Tropical Islands Resort is the largest indoor water park in the world.  This hanger is SO big that the statue of Liberty could stand up in the middle of it & still not hit the ceiling.  It's so long that the Eifel Tower could lay down inside & still not touch both ends.  Pictures don't do it justice.  It's massive.

It was FREEZING the day we went.  It was about 40 degrees Fahrenheit.  But once you walked inside, it was like you were on the beach in California.  It was warm, wet, & WONDERFUL.

The entire place is oasis after oasis of greenery, pools, lagoons, slides, & everything FUN for kids.  I literally felt like I was on the beach.  There's even sand . . . good sand for sand castles.  It was wonderful.

The kids loved all the water slides.  Most of them were pretty mild on the "fear factor scale," but they still enjoyed them.  Canyon especially loved that he could ride them all by himself & wasn't scared of any of them.

There were fish, parrots, flamingos, & peacocks inside as well.  Just walking around the entire park was fun.  We enjoying our adventures & all the fun things we saw.

Outside was Amazonia.  There was a huge lazy river, a water rapids water slide, & then some fun outdoor pools.

My favorite area was the lagoon.  The water was extra warm, the bubbles were awesome, & it was quiet & peaceful.

The food was really good there too.

We spent the entire day splashing, sitting, building castles, swimming, & napping.  It was GLORIOUS.
