Service for the Flood Victims

After both boys & girls camp, we had many many service opportunities come up in our area.  The area about 1 hour north of us along the Mosel River got hit with some of the craziest floods they've ever had in the area.  The River overflowed & a lot of these cute villages that have been around for hundreds of years got buried under water.  Luckily, these homes are built to last.  BUT, a lot of work needs to be done to save them properly so they'll last even longer.  Anything that was covered in water needs to be completely stripped down to the cement cinder blocks, then aired out to dry for 2 weeks.  THEN, they can go back in & re-plaster these buildings for future use.

Our church spent 4 Saturdays going up to these villages & spending 8-10 hours a day stripping plaster off walls, gathering up brick & other debris, & just cleaning up the mess the floods left behind.  It was back breaking work, but wonderful too.

It's wonderful to be with our closest friends helping serve our community.
