Trek was leaving in May for his 2.5 month TDY to Alabama for the summer so he wanted to take care of some of the yard things before he left. He wanted to tackle the front garden bed because it was a mess. The people who lived here before us did NOT take care of the yard, lawn, or flowers at all. Everything had died & we spent all of last summer trying to revive it. Some things came back to life, but others did not. They were permanently dead so we decided to take them out.
We worked for 4 hours digging, pruning & pulling these big dead bushes out of the garden bed.
It was hard work, but we were able to get them out by the roots & put them out to be taken away. The front yard looks so much better without them there.
After gardening all morning, Trek took Cadence on her first bike ride (using my bike) since coming home from her mission. ONE BLOCK from our house, she somehow managed to flip over my bike's handbars & land on her head & back without ever letting go of my handlebars. Her helmet shattered (but saved her life) & she messed herself up pretty bad. She had one broken radial bone (& ended up having her arm in a full arm cast for 6 weeks), & badly sprained her other arm & wrist putting her in a brace for 2 months. Poor girl. She was messed up big time. Because of her injuries, she couldn't get a job, couldn't shower herself or dress herself. It was SUCH an ordeal for her. But she was a total trooper & managed the entire 2 months she was in recovery.
