Taya's Final Ladies Ballroom Competition

Taya had her final Ladies Ballroom Competition at UVU in Orem, UT the end of February.  She knew this was her last actual judged competition so she gave it her all & she did amazing.

Lorien (who goes to UVU) was able to be there to watch & cheer her on as she performed.

The Ladies Team took 3rd on Kiss Kiss Bang & 2nd on Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie!

We are SO proud of you Taya.

 

Concerto Night - Taya on Viola

In February, the high school put on an absolutely incredible Concerto Concert.  The high school selected several students on several solo instruments & had them learn, memorize, & perform an incredible concert level concerto solo accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra (which Taya plays viola in).  All the music, both for the soloist & for the accompanying orchestra were original music from the conductors & the skill level involved to perform these is unmatched.  I still can't believe a bunch of high school students performed at this level.

It was an incredible concert.  Taya didn't have any solos, but she did an amazing job as a violist in the accompanying chamber orchestra.  She had me film her 6 favorite numbers.  ALL of them were amazing.

Well done Alta High School.  You are AMAZING.

 

Happy 20th Birthday Lorien!

February is the month of birthdays at the Potter House!

Lorien turned a whopping 20 years old on the 21st.  We celebrated a little bit at my mom & dad's house a week before her birthday.  My parents got her a cute little sewing kit (because she was getting a sewing machine from my friend Nancy as her big present this year).

Then on her actual birthday, she came to visit from college.  She asked me to make her a Mardi Gras King Cake for her birthday cake this year which cracked me up.  She almost always asks for my peanut butter cake.  A King Cake is more like a giant oval cinnamon roll, but she loves it, so I made it for her.  :-) 

She opened a lot of fun gifts from my friend Nancy, including the sewing machine she's been wanting for a while.

We gave her some new work shoes & flats for church & a few other things she wanted/needed.  We made a yummy dinner & then had KING CAKE for dessert.

Happy Valentine's Day 2025

Happy Valentine's Day 2025 from the Potter House.

The kiddos had school all day, but we were still able to exchange valentine's to each other, spend extra time together, & eat a delicious red & pink dinner.

I love my sweet family.

 

Happy 22nd Birthday Cadence

Happy 22nd Birthday to the girl that made me a mom!  I can't believe my first baby is 22 years old.

Cadence came up & visited us the week of her birthday (from college) so we could spoil her a little bit.  She had fun opening gifts from Nancy (lots of fun clothes & shoes), & from us (clothes, a phone case, & a new backpack)

Cadence loves carrot cake, so I made her a carrot cake to celebrate.  She was SO excited.

We celebrated Cadence that Sunday at my parents house as well.

Craiger's Etiquette Dinner

In February, Craiger spent hours planning, prepping, & presenting an etiquette dinner for our church group's youth ages 11-18.  He worked hard learning etiquette rules, putting together a slide show presentation, planning a full menu, buying the ingredients, & delegating the meal prep to others helping him.

He did a lot of the prep work himself including "ranch cups" for the salads & cutting "butter pats" & wrapping them in wax paper for the bread plates.

He also spent time making & sending out invitations & making place cards for all the invitees.

He spent a week on polishing his slideshow presentation & spent hours going over his talking points so the night would run smoothly.

When the night finally came, he set everything up & put on a fabulous dinner for all 30 kids that came.  It was delicious, informative, & was just a lot of fun for all of them.
