Burg Nanstein

When you look out of the girls' bedroom window, you can see a castle.  We decided to go explore that castle & wanted to learn more about it.  The castle is located in Landstuhl which is only about 10 minutes from our little village.  (I go shopping there all the time).  Burg Nanstein is located just above Landstuhl village.  It's a small castle ruins, but VERY cool nonetheless.

Nanstin was built in about 1189 AD.  We arrived just as the sun was setting, so we didn't get to go inside the castle (it was already closed), but we'll be back to explore the inside fully next time.  We chose to hike up the trail from the Landstuhl city center which only took about 15 minutes.  It's a simple hike, more like a walking incline, but full of amazing trails for seasoned hikers too.  There is a road & a parking lot for those who choose to drive up as well.

There's also a really fabulous restaurant at the top too that serves German food & drinks.

For this trip, we just walked around the castle grounds & enjoyed the quiet solitude of the evening.  We loved the beautiful view of the city below as well as the gorgeous German countryside.  We are SO very blessed to be in this beautiful country, surrounded by such beautiful things.
