We happened upon one of the funnest experiences EVER in July. Someone told us they thought there was an alpine slide near here so we started looking into it more. Sure enough, about 40 minutes away is a Sommerrodelbahn & it's AMAZING.
We took the kids & we had a blast. The entire "place" is full of things the entire family would love. My kids loved the little fairy houses all around the park.
There is a large play area for the kids to run around in that kept them busy for well over an hour. We had to pry them out of the playland to get on the BIG SLIDE!
Peterberg is a beautiful little town, & the area where the alpine slide is is just plain gorgeous. The views from the top of the mountain are just spectacular.
Before adventuring on the big slide, we let the kids each ride the small slides a few times. And when I say small, I mean "smaller than the really big one, but still really big." These slides are 40 Euro Cents each ride, but well worth it. You get a little carpet sled to slide on & they are metal so you go really really fast.
Some of them are pretty tame & wavy,

while the others are a literal STRAIGHT DROP that leaves your stomach behind you. I loved listening to the screams as they went down this slide. I thought they'd all be terrified, but they wound up riding it again & again & again.
Finally it was time for the BIG SLIDE. This place is great. You pay for your ride (we bought 10 rides for 26,50 Euro & each got to take a turn with 2 left over), & then they put you in a sled. It's great because the sled gets pulled up the mountain on it's own. You don't have to hike it at all. All the hard work is done for you & you just get to enjoy the ride down.
But it's a steep ride up the mountain. I was a little nervous looking behind me knowing how dangerous it could be if someone fell out, but boy was it fun.
Here's a 360 degree video of Trek going down with Craiger:
The ride down was absolutely one of the funnest things I've ever done in my life. SO FUN. It took about 3 minutes to get all the way down, & it's FAST. You do have a break on your sled if you want to go slower, but going fast is the way to go. It's absolutely amazing.
This place is amazing. If you haven't been yet & live in the area, GO. It's probably one of my favorite things we've ever done in Germany. Trek & I want to seek out more of these because they were such a hoot. You bet, we'll be coming back here a LOT.
