I can't believe my baby girl is 16 years old. Taya turned 16 in September.
Since we were still pretty new to the area (& didn't really know ANYONE just yet), she invited some kids from church to her birthday party & just hoped SOMEONE would show up.
Her party this year was CLUE themed. We love the game Clue & we absolutely LOVE the movie "Clue!" Each guest at her party had to wear their favorite color & name themselves with a "Clue" name.
We watched the movie "Clue" then played a series of games like Werewolf, murder in the dark, & laser tag. All Taya wanted to eat was cheesecake which is her favorite dessert in the world.
In the end we had about 5 girls show up for the party & a couple of boys came to say hi, but had to leave shortly after. We were grateful for those teens who came even though they don't know us very well yet. We love them.
For Taya's birthday breakfast we had cinnamon roll pancakes, grapes, sausage, & oreos (instead of ding dongs).
Taya got some fun clothes (& tons of boots) from my friend Nancy.
The kids gave her a lamp for her desk & Trek & I gave her a new bedspread for her bed.
Her best friend from Germany mailed her a birthday package full of her favorite German treats.
And Mimi got her a new art set & a sketchbook.
For her birthday dinner she wanted Catalina chicken, corn, & yogurt.
It was a pretty low key birthday, but she was happy. We love Taya so much. She's done so well adapting to our new area, new school, new friends, new everything. She's taking all the change in stride & continues to be such a happy positive young woman.
Happy Birthday Taya! We love you.
