We got to spend a couple of days after Thanksgiving with Trek's family to celebrate his parent's 50th anniversary. We got the amazing opportunity to fly on her private plane. We felt so spoiled. No airport parking, no lines, no security. . . we simply packed what we wanted, got out of our car, & walked directly onto the plane. It was AMAZING.
Craiger got to sit in the co-pilot seat which was incredible for him. He loves flying so he takes every opportunity he can to fly.
The flight was only about 2 hours long. Two of Trek's sister's picked us up from the airport & then we drove to his sister's house for some family time. It was fun to have everyone together. All except one sister was able to make it. We had siblings, cousins, Opa & Oma. . . it was great.
We spent a few hours just resting, hanging out, & chatting together as a family. . . then we drove up into the San Francisco mountains for some Potter family pictures (which I need to get copies of).
My little niece, is completely obsessed with Craiger. He saved her from drowning several years ago, & from that moment on, she is attached to his hip whenever they are together. It's adorable.
We got lots of family pics taken (I'll post them when I get them), but Cadence & Amkaa got some cute pictures together too.
After pictures, we went back to the house & did a big family service project. We made 100 bags for the homeless. They had backpacks, flashlights, blankets, socks, gloves, hats, money, food, & more inside. We formed an assembly line & just packed them all for an hour. It was amazing. I love that our family takes the time to help others in need. Service is such a bonding experience.
And after all that hard work, everyone relaxed for a bit. . . & some took naps.
Later that evening, we ordered some amazing food to be delivered, then we set up a little surprise party for Opa & Oma's 50th anniversary. Trek made a 30 minute video of their lives together with pictures from the day they met all the way until now. Each of the kids & grandkids did some great video messages for them. Then we ate this beautiful cake in celebration of them.
We spent the rest of the night telling family stories & singing Karaoke! It was amazing.
I love my Potter family.
Even though I don't know you or your wonderful family personally, I just wanted to extend my personal congratulations to your in-laws on reaching the milestone of celebrating their 50th anniversary back in November. I thank God that there are still people in this world who are still married after all these years (something that is, sadly, rare in this day and age). Speaking of anniversaries, my folks 50th anniversary is coming up later this summer. I pray that your in-laws will be together for (at least) 50 more to come.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, didn't one of your sister-in-laws host a television show back in 1987-88 called Kidsongs? I used to love that show back in the day when I was old enough to be within the viewer demographic. I'm 43 now.
Wishing you and your wonderful family all the positive things that life and the good Lord has to offer. Cheers.
