The end of June was our stake's Pioneer Trek.
The kiddos have been putting things together for this for a while now, so they were excited to go. They had fun getting dressed in all their pioneer clothing, grabbed their buckets with all their belongings, & headed out on an adventure.
Bella was very sad they were gone. She kept pouting on Bladen's bed after they left.
Trek took them to get all checked in & sorted into their families. They were in different groups (which is good for them to meet new people).
The trek was meant to last 4 full days, but in a crazy turn of events, they got evacuated on the first day due to a wildfire in the area they were trekking. They evacuated first to a high school, & then to a church building. They were able to stay at the church building for 2 more days, but then wound up coming home on Wednesday instead of Thursday as originally planned.
The leaders managed to still make it fun for them, even though they technically couldn't "trek" at all, but they did activities & firesides & lessons at the church building grass area, set up tents there & camped, & still ate great. They even managed to have a dance in the church parking lot.
So though it wasn't the trek they had imagined, it was still a blast & full of memories & adventures.
