Hotel Fun

I can't believe it's already time to pack up & move again.  We've gotten used to this being 18 years in the military, but every move is hard.  Saying goodbye is never fun, even when we know the next adventure is exciting.  We said a fond farewell to our beautiful house in AL.  It was a small house (one of the smallest we've ever lived in), but it was my favorite house as well.  It was perfect for us.  We fit, there was space where we needed space, & it was easy to clean.  It was in a perfect location, & we will miss it terribly.

While Trek was still in CO, I managed to head up 2 more shipments (one for Germany & one for permanent storage until we move back to the states), packed up the suitcases, did the yard work needed to move, & left this beautiful home with all the kiddos.

We were in a hotel in Prattville for 3 nights & Trek joined us for the 3rd night.  We were happy to have him back with us again.  Our family just isn't complete unless he is there.

Then on Sunday we said our goodbyes to all of our church friends (another VERY tearful day) & headed to our hotel next to the airport in Montgomery.

We tried very hard to plan ahead so we wouldn't have to buy anything on Sunday.  We had lunchables for lunch in the hotel lobby as we waited to check in.  Then for dinner we had purchased (on Saturday) 8 TV dinners to heat up for dinner on Sunday.  Yes, it was disgusting, but it was all we had.  The hotel only had 1 microwave so it took us well over an hour to cook our food.  It was a long day, but we managed & survived & still had fun in the process.

Monday we swam in the pool & got the last few things done that we needed to get done for the flights to Germany on Tuesday/Wednesday.  The kids loved the pool.  We also walked (all 8 of us) on the side of the road to the nearest restaurant we could find to our hotel which happened to be an amazing hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant.  It would probably be our last Mexican food for a long time.

And finally, we put on face masks in the hotel for our final girls' night in America.

The next morning we'd be up at the crack of dawn & on our way to our new home for the next 3 years. . .

GERMANY!
