Thank you Alabama for an amazing year of fun & memories! To all those who have touched our lives this year, we will love you always & forever!! Thank you for all your love, kindness, & that sweet southern charm I've grown to love. You will be missed greatly!!! Farewell sweet home Alabama!
The Potters are officially off on another adventure!!! Gutentag Deutschland!! Bring on the castles, spaghetti eis, döner kebaps, traveling, & the most amazing history & architecture in the world!
Watch out Europe! The Potters are coming!
It was a terribly long 35 hours of flying & airports & delays & hunger & exhaustion, but we made it to Germany safely. The boys enjoyed all 3 plane rides & amazingly they slept like babies on those planes. The girls & I had a harder time sleeping, but we survived & all is well.
Trek's new unit was waiting for us when we got off the plane. We were SO tired & all those happy smiling faces, handshakes, & hugs meant the world to us. We already love his squadron & are SO grateful for all the help they have given us. They gave us a basket of German survival items to get us through our first few days here, as well as drove us all over the place to get things done that needed to get done.
Our hotel here is a German rental house in Mackenbach, Germany. It's a fully furnished house (German style of course) & though there are some adjustments we have to make (like the tiny fridge, no A/C, & the 6 hour a load washer & dryer), we are loving our new area. We won't be able to get into a permanent house for a few weeks, but this little house is perfect for the time being.
Germany is as beautiful as I remember it. It's like a dream walking down the village streets, talking with the sweet people, & smelling the beautiful flowers & gardens around every corner. I love standing on our balcony & listening to the 300 year old church's bells chime on the hour every hour. I am living my dream & I am SO very happy.
