November 2022 Happenings

November was FULL of big trips, preparation for a big community event put on by our church, & many other things that will all get their own blog post, but there were a few things that we have pics of that can fit into our "November Happenings" post.

Trek did a 50 mile bike ride to France with some of his friends.  It was cold, raining, & slippery, but they still did it & were excited they completed the journey.  The rode down to France, then took the train back to Germany.  They had a blast.

Trek also participated in a 23 mile rucksack race in November.  He woke up at 3am, started running at 4 & had 4 hours to complete the 23 miles while wearing a 25 pound backpack on his back.  HE DID IT!  He made it under the 4 hours & he got awarded a medal from the Norwegian Government saying that he completed their most difficult physical challenge.  He's VERY excited about that.  (He did Switzerland's last year so now he has medals from Switzerland & from Norway).  He was pretty excited that he actually finished in time.

There were a few friends that did it as well.

As for me, I was SUPER busy this month preparing for a nativity event sponsored by our church.  December 1-3 we had our church building decorated for Christmas with over 200 nativities from around the world.  We had a choir sing excerpts from Handel's Messiah, & then we performed a live nativity play.  I was in charge of all the costumes for the play which kept me busy sewing ALL MONTH LONG.

But I did get a couple breaks to visit some Christmas markets with my wonderful friends.

My friends helping decorate the church for the event.

The Trier Christmas Market is always one of my favorites.  This is the village that Taya was born in, just around the corner from this very spot in the square.  It's like home to me & I love visiting the Christmas market there.  We all came as a big group to explore everything together.

Then the last week of November, we all decorated for the Nativity Event, then walked over to the Kaiserslautern Christmas Market for lunch.  Because we all know the whole reason to visit Christmas Markets is FOR THE FOOD!!  Yum!
