The most exciting thing that happened in February was Taya receiving her mission call.
In our church, anytime after turning 18 years old, men & women can choose to serve a mission for 18-24 months. The work hard to submit a lot of paperwork, including physicals & dental examinations. It's time consuming, but very exciting. Once their paperwork is submitted, the first presidency of the church prayerfully assigns each young man & young woman a mission to serve in.
Trek served a 2 year mission in Hamburg, Germany speaking German. Cadence served an 18 month mission serving the wonderful people of Mongolia speaking Mongolian. My son-in-law, Amkaa served for 2 years in Colorado Springs. And my other son-in-law, Elijah served the wonderful people in North Carolina. It's always exciting to read your mission call for the first time to find out where you will be serving.
Taya has been talking about serving a mission for years now. She's been preparing & the time has finally come. She received her mission call on February 17th & we planned a celebration for her on the 18th where friends & family could come as she read out loud where she will be serving for the next 18 months.
We had 2 maps on the wall where people could guess where they thought she might go. Most people choose one stateside mission & one international mission. You never know where you'll get called.
Taya has been called to serve in the Philippines, Cawayan mission for 18 months starting on July 22nd, 2026. She will be learning the Tagalog, Ilocano, & Gaddong languages for her mission. She is so excited to serve the people in the Philippines, learn their languages & cultures, & share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. We are so excited for her.
She will be an incredible missionary.
