St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun Hunt

St. Patrick's Day is Taya's favorite holiday.  She loves having our special leprechaun "Lucky" come visit our house & leave us a fun treasure hunt to discover throughout the day.

When we woke up, we had our first note from Lucky on a box of green lucky charms.  This year, Lucky made each of our clues some sort of secret code that the kids had to decipher.  I don't think they've had this much fun in MONTHS.  They told me this was the best year for the treasure hunt they've ever had.  They LOVED how hard it was.

The first code was written backward so they knew their first clue was in the boy's bathroom under the sink.

There they found a red rainbow piece & green clothes to wear for St. Patrick's Day.  There was also a new code for them to decipher.  This one took a lot longer to figure out.

They realized each number corresponded to a letter in the alphabet.  (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc). They were able to decipher the code once they figured that out.

They found another clue bag & the orange rainbow piece.

This code was a lot harder to figure out than the first two.  They had to line up the alphabet A-M over the top of N-Z & see which letters matched each other (A=N, B=O, etc.)

They found their next piece (yellow) & the activity bag near Bladen's drumset.  They had to wait until after school to open this one.

This one had braille that they had to figure out.

Shamrock Shakes are always a favorite on St. Patty's Day.

Next they found the green piece with an activity to play Don't Eat Pete!

This activity had morse code that led them to their next rainbow piece & activity.

The kids also love playing Don't Eat Pete.  They think it's SO funny.  We played with key lime pie M&M's this year.

The next clue had us eat dinner (a very green dinner) while they deciphered binary code for their next clue.

I made green bread, a charcuterie board of all things green & delicious, a fruit rainbow, & green pasta for dinner.  The kids loved it.

The last clue of the night was a tough one.  First they had to play a Harry Potter escape room online before they could decipher the code that led to the treasure.  They love online escape rooms so they loved this.

The last code was a tough one.  It's a masonic code (look it up on google).  It's not hard if you know what you're looking for, but until you get it, it's extremely difficult to figure out.

This led them straight to my closet to claim their leprechaun's treasure.

It was a super fun day.  I love putting these St. Patty's hunts together for them.  I love that they love them & I love the time we spend together doing them.

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!
