Prom 2021

Somehow our amazing high school was able to pull it off,
these kids actually got PROM this year.

Cadence decided to go with a small group of friends & just have fun.  There were 3 girls & 3 boys in the group & one of the boys just said "Hey, it's PROM!  Let's make it a date!"  So each of the boys asked one of the girls in the group.

The boy that asked Cadence sent her on a dewey decimal treasure hunt through the school library until she found a note in one of the books.

He asked her using her favorite Marvel character - Loki.  (He's my favorite too).  I think the girls were super excited the boys decided to make it an official date.

A friend of mine met the girls at Emily's house & did their hair & another sweet friend did their make-up.

Cadence's hair was GORGEOUS.

They asked me to photgraph the whole thing so I got to be there as they saw each other for the first time all dress up, during the boutonnière & corsages, & for couple & group pictures.  It was super fun.

Since these guys are all just friends, it got pretty awkward fast when taking pictures.  None of them wanted to be near each other, let alone touch each other.  It was quite hilarious to me.  Awkward teens crack me up.  I told them it was okay to get close for pictures & that it didn't mean they were in love or that anyone was going to make fun of them.

These kids are the best of the best.  They are such a tight knit group.  They look out for each other.  They are there for each other.  I just love them.

It cracked me up to put Cadence & Brandon together.  He's the tallest of the group at 6'3" & Cadence is the shortest at a whopping 4'11".  Them standing next to each other was kind of hilarious
(& Cadence was wearing HEELS!!!).

So Prom ended up being four 1.5 hour sessions.  You had to sign up for which hour & a half you wanted to be there.  Only 50 kids could go to each session.  Cadence's friends signed up for 3-4:30 which was pretty early in the day, but it's what was available.

They cracked up at having to wear masks the entire time, the Danny Devito stand up (the ONLY person Cadence was taller than at the dance), & the cool cars for "photo shoots" in front of the school.  It was all kind of silly, but they were SO grateful there was a PROM no matter how odd it was.  They ended up having an absolute blast.

My favorite part of the whole night was having all of them show up to Canyon's baptism at the church after prom.  They totally didn't have to do that, but they were there all dressed up to support & celebrate him.  It meant the world to Canyon & to me.  Like I said, BEST TEENS EVER!

After the baptism, they all went out to dinner & then wound up at our house in our party room until midnight.  It was a great night of friends & fun.
