Baba's Obituary

Clyde Edward Sorensen passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 28 ,

2025 in Lehi, UT at the age of 68 just days before his 69 th

birthday. After a courageous

year-long battle with lung cancer, he left the world the way he lived – with grace, humility, &

peace.

Clyde is survived by his daughter Danielle Potter (Trek); his son, Justin Sorensen

(Carianne); 9 grandchildren, Cadence, Lorien, Taya, Korbyn, Bladen, Craiger, Brinley,

Canyon, & Kylie; & his seven siblings, Lynn Sorensen (Karla), Linda Nelson (Robert),

Debbie Nelson (Joel), Keith Sorensen (Robin), Sharon Robinson (Dale), Kent Sorensen

(Kathryn), & Ryan Sorensen (Heather). He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Ti’Ata

Sorensen (Cherry); his father, Merrill D Sorensen; & his mother, Ethel Sorensen

(Huntington).

Clyde was born in Spanish Fork, Utah on June 2, 1956, to Merrill D & Ethel (Huntington)

Sorensen. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1974. He served a mission for

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1975 – 1977 where he faithfully

served the people of Taipei, Taiwan speaking the Mandarin Chinese language. He grew to

love the country, its people, & the language.

1/2After serving his mission, Clyde attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah from

1977 to 1980, & studied Applied Sociology. While attending BYU, he met & was sealed to

Ti’Ata Coreen Cherry on March 5, 1980, in the Salt Lake, Utah Temple. After moving to

Orem & Salem, UT, they moved to Eagar, Arizona, where they welcomed 2 beautiful

children into their home, Danielle in 1981, & Justin in 1984.

Though Clyde’s degree was in applied sociology, he soon realized he had a sharp mind for

numbers, calculations, & statistics. He moved his family to Spanish Fork, UT in 1991. In

1995, Clyde began working as an Aggregate Production Manager for Geneva Rock, a

company that he would grow to love over the 30 years he would work for them. His sharp

intellect & attention to detail made him an asset to the company. He was a loving mentor &

friend to all those he worked with.

Clyde’s spiritual devotion was central to his life. He served in many callings in the Church,

but perhaps his most cherished was his time as Bishop of the Spanish Fork 15th Ward from

1996 to 2001. His leadership was marked by compassion, humility, and a true desire to

serve others, especially the youth, whom he loved working with.

But above all else, Clyde was a family man. He adored his 9 grandchildren. Whether it was

a ballgame, a concert, a recital, or a school play, Clyde was there—cheering, supporting,

and beaming with pride.

And his most profound devotion was to his beloved Ti’Ata. In her final years, when illness

took its toll, Clyde cared for her tenderly, faithfully, and without hesitation. He became her

nurse, her advocate, her constant companion—waking in the night to care for her,

managing her medications, cooking, cleaning, and offering unwavering love every step of

the way. Their love was a quiet, powerful example of devotion and selflessness, and when

Ti’Ata passed just two months ago, a piece of Clyde’s heart went with her.

Clyde’s viewing will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 6-8pm at Walker Funeral

Home (187 S. Main Street in Spanish Fork, UT). His funeral services will be on Tuesday,

June 10, 2025 at the LDS Stake Center located at 1006 E. 200 S. Spanish Fork, UT. We

will have a short viewing from 9am-9:45am, & the funeral service will begin at 10am

followed by the graveside service at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
