After our adventures in the Colosseum, we made our way to The Roman Forum across the street. I knew I'd like these because it was an active archaeological site.
I don't know what all the buildings were once upon a time, but they were beautiful nonetheless. I loved looking at each & every one of them.
The kids did remarkably well. It was 95 degrees, the sun was beating down on us, & they were troopers every step of the way.
This area/alter is where they cremated Julius Caesar.
After an hour of learning more about things that took place in the Roman Forum, we hiked up to the top of Palantine Hill to overlook the beautiful city of Rome.
At this point, we were losing the kids. They were bored, hot, dehydrated, & ready for naps. Sweet things. They held strong for SO long. It was definitely time for some lunch.
We found a cute little restaurant that put our whole family in a room. We tried not to be too loud & obnoxious, but we are Potters & we do enjoy talking. It was SO fun to just have some family down time.
After a delicious lunch of pasta, pizza, & caprese, we hopped on the bus & rode it back to our hotel for some much needed nap time.
While the kids napped, Trek & I ran to a grocery store around the corner & bought some real food for breakfast the next day. Then we mapped out how to get to our next tour & took a 20 minute nap too. It was WONDERFUL.
Our next stop . . . a 4 hour food tour of Rome! YUM!
