It's Summer Time + Start of the "BIG FAMILY ADVENTURE"

Trek got the kiddos up & ready for school on the last day while I left at 5:30 am to go to the airport to pick up my sister-in-law, Carolyn & her 3 kiddos.  I don't get to see my sweet nieces & nephew very often so I was very excited to have them all with us in Germany for a week!

Picking them up went smoothly & we brought them back to the house just in time for the kids to make it home from school.  It was officially summer & time to play.

Jet lag was hitting them pretty fast, so we threw on some swimming suits & took them all to the pool by our house.  We LOVE our pool here!  Four or five pools to swim in, a playground, a wave pool & lazy river, a jacuzzi, high dives, & the best water slide in the world . . . what's not to love.  It wound up being the perfect place to keep everyone happy & busy to keep their mind off of how tired they were.

The cousins had so much fun together.  It was SO nice to see them playing & having fun.  We miss living close to family.

The slide was a huge hit, as always.

The kids also loved the lazy river.

After swimming, we made our way back home & called Tony our gelato man to bring us some yummy treats.  This was the first time Carolyn & the kids have ever had spaghetti eis & they LOVED it.

We took the kids on a walk around the farm around our house to show them how beautiful it was.

We stopped by our park & let the kids play around for a while.

And this is when the start of our
"BIG FAMILY ADVENTURE"
officially began.
Bridger wasn't feeling 100%, but we thought it was all the traveling & jet lag hitting him,
but we were way off.

The next morning he was running a fever & the literal worst case scenario came true.
"Let's just test him for COVID just to rule that out!"
My famous last words.
It was positive IMMEDIATELY & he was SICK!

Carolyn was set to take the train to Paris with her kiddos, but didn't know what to do now that Bridger had COVID.  We decided to keep Bridger here at our house & let me take care of him, while Carolyn & the girls go to Paris for 3 days.  I promised to take the best of care of him possible so they didn't have to worry so they could enjoy their once in a lifetime trip to Paris together.

Each day, I'd send up little tray of food & goodies for Bridge for each meal.  We moved a TV into the room he was in & charged up our walkie talkies so he could play Nintendo Switch with our boys via internet & walkie talkies.  It was so cute.  The boys would be in our living room playing Super Smash Bros & Bridge would be quarantined in our guest room. . . but I could still hear them all laughing & shouting as they talked through the walkie talkies.  Bridger may have had COVID, but they were living their best lives playing together.

Every morning, we'd give Bridger another COVID test.  We told him as soon as he tested negative, we'd let him come out & play in person again.  Luckily, he tested out two days later.  (He must have been 4 or 5 days positive for COVID by the time he arrived, because he tested out pretty fast).  We were so happy the morning that we could no longer see a positive line for him.

Carolyn & the girls had a blast in Paris.  They had a great hotel right next to the Arch de Triomphe & got to see the Eiffel Tower several times, the Louvre, the Arch de Triomphe, & even did a night cruise on the Sein River.  They enjoyed themselves.  Carolyn fell while climbing the Arch de Triomphe & really sprained her ankle good which made it hard to walk for her, but she didn't let it get her down & she was able to really show her girls a great time in Paris.

We were happy when the three of them made it back to Germany via train safe & sound.  I was very proud of them for finding their way on their own to & around Paris.  They did great.  They were happy to see Bridger again & we were all together for more fun.
