Family Fun at Burg Lichtenburg & Wildpark Potzburg

When Bridger made it out of quarantine & Carolyn was back from Paris, we took them on a couple adventures before we left for our BIG FAMILY ADVENTURE in Italy.

First we visited Burg Lichtenburg near our house.  It's always our go-to castle to show people because it's so great!  We love that castle.  The kids always have a blast playing at the playground & love climbing in all the windows & doorways of the castle.

The kids always love climbing to the top of the tower there.  It's a LOT of stairs, but we made it & we love seeing how beautiful the German villages are from up there.  Pictures just don't do Germany justice.  It's just too beautiful.

The next day we took everyone to Wildpark Potzburg.  We love going there to sit & pet the goats.  It's a whole zoo full of animals, but my kids just like to go into the goat pen & sit for hours on end while the goats cuddle up in their laps & sleep.  It cracks me up.

This time, we made sure to catch one of the wild bird shows.  The kids were able to be part of the show & each got to hold a hawk & an owl.

I swear Craiger remains our animal whisperer.  That boy can calm any animal he comes in contact with & all animals seem to love him.  Everyone else had birds flying onto their hands & then away again, but Craiger got at least 6 birds on him & every single time, they'd just sit there & look at him.  It's so funny.  He loves it.

The hawks were a little scary with how sharp their claws were, but the owls were absolutely adorable.  Ella, Emery, & Bridger were very excited to hold the owls.

After the bird show, we took the kids where they "really" wanted to go:
THE GOAT PEN.

And yes, we were there for at least an hour petting & loving on the goats.

For some reason, the pregnant momma goats always love me.  I love the little baby goats, but no, the poor fat momma's plop themselves on me & beg to be petted.  I know how they feel, poor things.  I guess they need our love too.

I especially love visiting the artic foxes here.  I think they're beautiful.

And Lorien loves the llamas & alpacas.  They are pretty cute until they spit on you.

They have a beautiful albino peacock here & this was the first time we've seen him with his beautiful white feathers spread out.  He was gorgeous.

And we got chased around by a crazy turkey too.

It was a fun afternoon spent together.  Poor Bridge learned what stinging nettle was (poor kid), but other than that, it was a pretty normal day.

After the park, we came home & had Tony bring some more gelato to our house.  We love TONY.  Then we spent the rest of the day packing for Italy.  24 hours until ALL the Potters were together again.
