Taya Prom 2025

Taya was SUPER excited to get asked to prom this year.  Her friend from school had a cousin that wanted to come to prom with his cousin so he asked Taya since she hadn't been asked yet.

A blind date for prom. . . some would find that scary, but Taya saw it as a new adventure.

Vincent came to pick her up for a fun date of hide & seek at IKEA.

After their day date, we went to Taya's friend's house to do hair, make-up, & get dressed.  She looked beautiful.

Taya got ready with her friend Izzy.  They both looked beautiful.

Then the boys came & they exchanged corsages & boutonnieres.

We took a few pictures of the 2 couples & then sent them on their way to dinner & the dance.

They met up with their group of friends & wound up having a ton of fun.

My Mother's Passing

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, my sweet Mother passed away.

She has been suffering with multiple medical conditions & problems for over 12 years now, but it still came out of nowhere.  We had noticed a deterioration of her mind where she was beginning to forget us.  She was no longer able to walk on her own, & we had resorted to having to use a bedpan with her, but we figured that was just part of everything that she was dealing with medically.  It turns out her liver had died & we hadn't realized it.  She started hallucinating the Saturday before so we had her taken to the hospital by ambulance.  They admitted her to the hospital & started running tests.  They had to put her on a breathing machine because her body was filling with carbon dioxide & she looked miserable.  The tests showed that her liver had died & there was nothing more we could do except make her comfortable until she passed.  She died 24 hours after unhooking all the life saving equipment.

We are so happy for her.  She graduated into a better life.  No more pain, no more suffering.  It is hard being the ones left behind, but we are happy she is in a better place with her mom, dad, & brother now.

Here is her obituary:

Ti’Ata Coreen Sorensen (Cherry) died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 in Lehi, Utah at the age of 63 just days before her 64th birthday.

Ti’Ata is survived by her husband, Clyde Sorensen; her son, Justin Sorensen (Carianne); her daughter Danielle Potter (Trek); 9 grandchildren, Cadence, Lorien, Taya, Korbyn, Bladen, Craiger, Brinley, Canyon, & Kylie; & her older brother, Kevin Cherry (Daleana). She is preceded in death by her father, Edgar Leroy Cherry; her mother, Charlene Cherry (Walker); & her brother, Brent Cherry.

Ti’Ata was born on April 4, 1961, in Page, AZ, to Edgar Leroy &
Charlene (Walker) Cherry. She graduated from Round Valley High
School in 1979. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, for one year, where she met & was sealed to Clyde Edward Sorensen on March 5, 1980, in the Salt Lake, Utah Temple. After moving to Orem & Salem, Utah, they moved to Eagar, Arizona, where they welcomed 2 beautiful children into their home, Danielle in 1981, & Justin in 1984. Her children remember her as a loving & dedicated mother who encouraged them in all they did.

Ti’Ata was an accomplished pianist & spent much of her time teaching others as well as accompanying many as they shared their musical talents.

She strove to be an amazing mother at home, & as her children grew, she worked as a loan officer in Spanish Fork for several years; & she then loved working as a librarian at Brigham Young University. She was very creative & loved to draw & paint like her father. She was a mother to anyone she crossed paths with & many remember her taking them under her wing in their times of need.

She was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many different callings in the church. She always had a soft spot for the children & youth & served in several Primary & Young Women positions in the church.

Her viewing will be Friday, April 4th, 2025 from 6pm-8pm at Walker Funeral Home (187 S. Main St. in Spanish Fork, UT). Her funeral services will be on Saturday, April 5th at the LDS stake center located at 1006 E. 200 S. Spanish Fork, UT. We will have a short viewing from 9am-9:45am, & the funeral service will begin at 10am followed by the graveside service at the Spanish Fork Cemetery. Bishop Karl Nielsen will officiate the ceremony.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ti’Ata’s life. The family would like to thank everyone who has shown love for Ti’Ata & our family during this difficult time.

Bladen's Percussion Competition

Bladen has enjoyed being in the Intermediate Percussion Class this year.  As a class they got to compete at a percussion competition this year which was really fun for him to prepare for.  He did an amazing job too.

We are so proud of him for working on & developing his talents.  Next year he's been accepted to perform in the advanced percussion group at the high school & he is SO excited about it.

Congrats buddy!

Restaurant Forte

Near the end of March, I had the opportunity to take my dad to Lorien's culinary school restaurant:
Restaurant Forte.

It's the restaurant the culinary students run during their last semester before their internships.  You pay $25 to have a fancy 5-6 course meal & it's AMAZING.

The bread course had all sorts of different breads.  I loved the biscuits.  They were so buttery & wonderful.

Isn't my dad a cutie patootie?

We had a little starter as well.  It was a delicious pork & shrimp eggroll in sweet chili sauce.  It was INCREDIBLE.

For my appetizer I got the meatballs which were delicious. . .

and my dad got the burnt ends with root beer bbq sauce.  His was spectacular.  He definitely picked the best appetizer.

For my salad I got the caprese salad which was amazing.

and my dad enjoyed the Lobster Bisque soup.

My dad's main dish was the roasted chicken.  It was beautiful & SO tender.

I got the salmon & let me tell you, the celery root mash was my favorite part of the entire meal.  Who know celery mash could be so good & flavorful?  The sauces were amazing on the salmon & mash as well.

I got the cazookie for dessert.  It was a giant cookie with homemade ice cream & a large toffee chip on top with a side of hot melted chocolate & fresh fruit.

My dad got a wonderful pineapple upside down cake with some sort of sweet coconut sauce to pour on top.

The entire meal was spectacular.  $25!!!  It was the best date ever.
