Veterans Day

Veterans Day was extra special this year.  We are SO used to being around so many military members all the time that it felt weird being in a community without military.  The kids' high school invited all military veterans to the school for a big breakfast with their kids which was awesome.  They had amazing french toast & caramel syrup with fruit & drinks.  Trek came dressed in his uniform & it was super special.

After the breakfast, we attended the high school Veterans Day celebration assembly in the gym.  They had special seats for us & the whole assembly was amazing.  They read Trek's name & we watched the dance team dance, the ballroom team do a jig, the cheerleaders cheer, & many other great performances.  They had a keynote speaker & it was just wonderfully done.  Well done Alta High School.  You know how to make Veterans feel truly special.

After the assembly, Trek & I hopped in the car & ran up to the University of Utah's Veterans Day Celebration.  We got to watch some amazing Veterans from the state of Utah be awarded with medals of honor for the bravery they showed in all the wars over the last 100 years.  These Veterans were the real deal.  It was SO neat to meet them & shake their hands.

After the ceremony, we joined these special veterans for a banquet dinner where we got to sit at a table with one of them & hear them talk about their lives while enjoying a wonderful lunch.  It was such an incredible humbling experience to listen to him talk about WWII.  Such an amazing man.

That night, we took Taya to Leatherbys to celebrate her PASSING HER DRIVING TEST!!!  We had the most amazing milkshakes ever & just enjoyed the evening.

It was a fantastic day!
