Hercules Monument in Kassel, Germany

On the way home, we stopped by the Hercules Monument in Kassel, Germany.  We noticed it as we drove to the Harz Mountains & decided to visit it on the way home.  Our friends decided to join it making it twice as much fun.

It's basically a temple styled monument with a HUGE statue of Hercules at the top.  (He's completely naked so be ready to hear a thousand jokes about that from your kids!)

It's located at the tip top of the mountain overlooking the city of Kassel.  Just below it there is a castle & a palace of some sort.  Both were closed they day we went, otherwise we would have visited them as well.  But we loved just running around the monument.

There were about 6-7 stairways down to the bottom of the monument that the kids loved running up & down & up & down again.  It was GREAT.  They got ALL their energy out racing each other.

And the view from the top was absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

There were 2 rooms at the side of the monument that had the best acoustics.  We couldn't help but sing a bunch of songs together inside them.  SO FUN.

After wearing ourselves out running stairs, we stopped by the local McDonalds for our final hoorah before officially heading home from vacation.

Honestly, it was one of the most fun vacations we've ever taken.  Having friends there always makes things more exciting & fun.  Thank you Harris & Zaugg family for making our vacation three times the fun it would have been.
