Obendorf bei Salzburg - Stille Nacht Kapelle

For those of you who know Trek & I, our favorite Christmas carol is & always will be "Stille-Nacht" (Silent Night).  Silent Night is a sacred song here in Germany & is only sung on Christmas Eve.  The story of how Silent Night came to be is one of our favorites.  We can't even tell it without getting emotional.  Our family sings Silent Night every Christmas Eve right before we go to bed & we always sing it in German, the way it was written 200 years ago.

Of course we knew we had to visit the Stille Nacht Kapelle where our beloved carol was written & performed that night 200 years ago.  It's only 30 minutes from Salzburg, & we're SO glad we went.  The original church was flooded & torn down years ago, but this small church was put in it's place as a symbol of the carol written there.

The kids loved the little playground next to the church which was great because it gave Trek & I some time to really enjoy the church while they played.

It was a small stop, but we're so glad we went.  It's always been a bucket list item for me.
