Lagos, Portugal - Day 2

Day 2 was lovely.  Who wouldn't love waking up to the sound of waves & the view of the ocean.  I woke up bright & early & did my daily workout on our rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean.  It was heaven.

Our breakfast included with our hotel was AMAZING.  It's buffet style so you can get anything you want.  They had breads of every kind (it's Europe after all), fruits, veggies, bacon, eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, roasted veggies, beans (veggies & beans are a UK thing), TONS of pastries like the pastel de nata, yogurts, cereals, & a huge tray of CHEESE (yes please)!  Plus, on top of the buffet you get to order one big thing from the chef.  This ranged from pancakes to eggs benedict to a custom omelet.  I had an acai bowl every morning I was there.  I LOVE them & haven't had one in ages.  It was so FRESH & delicious.  Heaven on earth I tell you.

When we got ready, we headed back to old town to visit that old church we found.

This is what it looks like inside.  Isn't it crazy beautiful?  Gold everywhere.

We also visited the castle ruins right there next to old town which is something I loved.

The old fort where they kept prisoners is also right next to the castle.  It was interesting to see it.

We did quite a bit of shopping (several hours worth) in old town buying souvenirs for our kids, then put on our swimsuits & headed for the many beaches in the area.  I love the beaches in Portugal.  A lot of them require a mini-adventure to get there.  This particular one required some cave exploring.

We spent HOURS at this beach.  It was gorgeous, secluded, & barely anyone was there.  We slept, we swam, we collected seashells galore, we soaked in the sun, & rested in the shade.  It was hours of perfection.  We even found some sea anemone washing ashore that we threw back into the ocean.  It was fun.

After we wore ourselves out in the sunshine (about 8pm) we worked our way back to old town for some dinner.  We found this fun mexican food restaurant called Beats & Burritos.  It was FABULOUS.

When you first arrived, they gave you a pen & napkin to draw a picture on.  They hang all the pictures up on the walls of the restaurant.  I drew a picture of the Lagos formations we saw the first day we were there.

It was fun hanging it up on the wall.

Day two was easy, beautiful, & relaxing.  I love Lagos.
