Cologne Christmas Market

***For some reason I can't get my pictures to load correctly on this post.  They keep going backwards (last to first rather than first to last) so this will be a backwards post.

On December 23rd, we took the family to Cologne to go to the Christmas market there.  Cologne is about 3 hours from us so it was a LOT of driving, but it was SO worth it.  This Christmas market was one of the best ones I've ever been too.  It was gorgeous.

When the sun set & the twinkle lights came out, it was EXTRA gorgeous.  Christmas is just so magical here.

I love the giant Christmas pyramids all lit up.  Usually when you see one of these, you know there's kinderpunsch or hot cocoa there.  And there are usually crepes nearby too.  We got BOTH here.

I loved the little blue mug by the chocolate factory in Cologne.  He's my new favorite hot cocoa mug.

We visited the Cologne chocolate museum while we were there & it was SO COOL.

It was fun seeing how chocolate is made from start to finish.

They even have a climate controlled greenhouse there to grow their own cocoa beans.

The little storybook village Christmas Market was fun for the kids too.  There were about 7 different markets there.  Each one had their own mug, their own theme, & their own decorations & shops.

The Cologne Cathedral was GORGEOUS.

When we first arrived, we decided to tour the cathedral & go up the 654 steps to the top of one of the bell towers.  It took a while, & there may have been some tears about leg cramps & fear of heights, but we all made it.  I forgot how tall this cathedral was.  It was a little scary looking out over the city through the tiny fence on top.

It was a beautiful day in a beautiful city.  Merry Christmas everyone.
