Bladen (7th grade) & Taya (8th grade) are both taking German at their school. Bladen is in German 1 & Taya is in German 2. Both are doing really well & I'm really proud of them. German is not an easy language to learn.
For their final project for 2nd semester, they each had to choose a German baking recipe & bake it. The recipe is all in German so it's hard to figure out all the directions/ingredients/etc. But they did really well.
Bladen made traditional Christmas Cinnamon Stars. . . something every bakery has around Christmastime. They are delicious, but difficult & time consuming to make. He made Mickey Mouse cookies instead of stars which made me smile.
Learning how to roll dough can be hard.
Then he had to make a meringue icing & let it dry overnight on the raw cookies.
Once they were baked, they were delicious. He did a great job.
Taya opted to make coconut macaroons.
They were beautiful.
And we discovered a new German product that we LOVE!!! They sell these little buckets of dipping chocolate in the baking aisle at the German stores. You sit the bucket in hot water & let the chocolate melt, then dip your cookies inside. Easy, no mess, & best cleanup ever.
DELICIOUS!!
