March Happenings 2026

March flew by so quickly.  I can't believe how fast time is moving right now.

Here are some of the random fun things we did this month. . .

We took the youth in our church congregation ice skating.  Canyon is finally getting less & less scared on the ice.  He did great.

Bladen, Craiger, & Taya are natural ice skaters so they were awesome without any help.  I didn't even get a pic of Craiger.  He was way too fast for me to get a good (not blurry) picture of him.

March marked Trek & my last military dining out.  It was a formal affair so we got to get all dressed up & everything.

I still remember the very first time Trek got sent to the "grog bowl."  It was his last dining out as a cadet at the University of Utah.  He had gone to school 3 years & nobody had dared to send him to the grog, so I mustered up all my bravery, wrote a rhyme, & sent him to the grog myself.  Nobody had ever seen a spouse (non-military) actually participate & send someone to the grog.

Well, this was our very last dining out in the military, so I felt like it was meant to be for me to also send Trek to the grog for his last time as well.

Here was my rhyme:

"I love my dear sweet husband, everyone knows that this is true.
I would never do anything to hurt him, but I like to have my fun too.

For 3 years I've waited, as he's commanded ROTC.
Being the chauffer, the maid, the cook, & the mom . . . like a good little wife should be.

I've been to every event you've done, to every commissioning ceremony.
I've lead many spouse meetings, & gone to dining outs a plenty.

I'm patient while he is at school all day, & on Thursdays for lead lab & more.
Then he's lesson planning & this & that, then he starts it all over for more.

All 6 dining outs he's gone to the grog as a good commander should do.
He's the best of the best & works so hard, simply because he loves all of you.

Now that 25 years have passed, his AF journey is at an end.
Let's say goodbye on a good note with fun, to my darling husband & friend.

Thank you, dear Trek, for showing me.  . the best 25 years of my life.
But for the record, let it be known, that his last grog trip came from his wife!"

I got a standing ovation which was super fun for me. . . most of the cadets were in shock that I would do that so it was fun.  Trek was good & went up & partook of the grog one last time.  I'm going to miss these dining outs.

In March, Canyon had a LOT of homework for his foods class.  He had to make a bunch of stuff from scratch with pictures, recipes, & more for his final assignments for the term.  He had a blast.  He made some "brookies" & some homemade stew for dinner as well.  He did a great job.

We also celebrated MAR10 day on March 10 with fun foods & a Mario Kart & Super Smash tournament with the kids.

Canyon also completed 2 more lego sets from Christmas.  These were both really hard sets, but he enjoyed them.

Bladen finally cut his long hair & it looks great.  His brother was first in line to teach him how to "best" do his hair now that it was short.  My two stylish boys.

And Taya spent most of March in after school rehearsals for Ballroom.  The JV Showcase was the first weekend in April, & because she is a senior this year, she got to do a beautiful "Senior Solo" as part of the concert.  She practiced with Xander hours & hours after school every day.  Here is one of the practice videos.  I can't wait to show the video of her dancing in person at the showcase.  It was beautiful.
