Arc de Triomphe & Notre Dame

We met up with Cari & Justin (my brother & my sister-in-law) at the Arc de Triomphe.  They had just gotten off their plane & were SO excited to meet up with us.

The Arc de Triomphe is beautiful.  It was finished in 1836 & the detail in this landmark is astonishing.  You can go up the arch (we've done it before so we didn't this time) which gives you a great view of the city.  I recommend pre-purchasing your tickets to save having to stand in line.

The round-about around the arch is CRAZY.  It's like 5 lanes deep & just goes in circles.  I don't know how people get out of it to tell you the truth.  Getting in is easy, but getting out looks HARD because there are SO many crossroads leading into it.  It's insane!

It was SO MUCH FUN seeing my baby brother.  I never get to see him because we always live so far away.  This was such a fun little get away.

After visiting the arc, we hopped on the subway & headed over to Notre Dame.  It broke my heart to see it in this state.  The fire on April 15th, 2019 was devastating.  For now the church is closed to visitors & really truly, you can't get anywhere near it.  You can only view it from across the river.  But even in it's current state, it's beautiful.  I'm SO grateful so much of it was saved.  Someday it will open again.  I look forward to that day.
