Paris - The Eiffel Tower

The week before school started, we had the opportunity to take the kids to Paris.  My brother & his wife had planned an anniversary trip there a while back & asked if we could meet them there since we hardly ever get to see each other.

Meet in Paris?
YES!

We could only go for 2 days, & my brother was there for a full week so we had to pick & choose what sites we wanted to see in the 2 days we'd be there.  The Eiffel Tower was the first on our list.

The Paris Subway system is the way to go for any transportation in Paris.  We LOVE subways in Europe.  They take a few minutes to figure out initially, but then they are SUPER easy to maneuver.  The C Line was down while we were there (the C line takes you straight to the tower), so we had to jump around a few trains to find an alternate route, but we were pleased to get off at this view.  It's beautiful there.  (This is the Trocadero Stop on the green line - 6).

After getting off the subway, you make a left around a big building & then there's this beautiful open area that looks out to the Eiffel Tower.  It was spectacular.

We found an adorable little food stand there & got lunch for everyone.  I had a delicious nutella banana crepe, some of the kids got beignets, some got baguette sandwiches, waffles, & some had pizza.  We love that we got to have a picnic by the Eiffel Tower.

After lunch, we walked down to the tower itself. It's not a very long walk & it's just beautiful.  You have to pass through security which takes a little time, but then you're in the "park" area & can move & explore at your own pace.

We chose not to go up this time around.  We've done it before so the kids weren't all that interested this time.  We will probably go back & do it again eventually, but we were more interested in seeing more since we only had a couple days.  At the bottom of this post I've added the websites for purchasing tickets to go to the different floors of the tower. I highly recommend buying tickets in ADVANCE.  It will save you hours of waiting in line.

It was beautiful.  We loved just being there & seeing it up close.  It's definitely the biggest MUST SEE in Paris.
