It's Moving Day!

Let me tell you. . . there is nothing that will bring tears to your eyes & a smile to your face than a big green moving truck holding all your earthly possessions after being without anything for well over 3 months time.  Living out of a suitcase with 6 kids, no toys, no electronics, no kitchen, no real food, no nothing. . . is not for the faint of heart.

I was thrilled when that moving truck pulled up to our new house.  I couldn't wait to FINALLY be HOME.

This was an interesting move in for us since we were missing all three of our girls.  They were exploring Garmisch, Germany (the alps) with all of their church friends for Girl's Camp for a full week.  We knew they were having a blast, but we sure missed them.

Our movers were fast & really really nice.  They took good care of our things & got everything unloaded & put together in a matter of a few hours.  That's not to say that nothing was broken or missing, but they did do their jobs well & we were grateful.

(Our only real sadness was our antique buffet from Germany was terribly broken in the moving process & all of our family pictures & wall hangings/art were missing.  We found a few family pics in a Halloween Costume bin yesterday, so we have have hope that maybe more of our pictures might be hiding out in our Halloween & Christmas decor.  We will continue to look through those bins as time allows.)

After everything was unloaded & the movers left us swimming in boxes & packing paper, we assigned the boys a very important task.  We asked them to collect the little green stickers off of all our furniture & moving boxes (military familys know exactly what I'm talking about!  Every single move, they put colored stickers on every piece of furniture in your house.  Just when you think you've found them all, you find 10 more) & place them on a piece of paper.  If they collected 25, they would get 1 scoop of gelato at the gelato shop.  50 would earn them 2 scoops, & 100 stickers each would earn them a specialty dessert.  They were pretty excited about collecting stickers.  They collected almost 150 EACH. . . including some random stickers from 2 or even 3 moves ago.

So of course we celebrated at our favorite gelato shop.  Trek & Bladen both got 3 scoops.

I opted for spaghetti eis, since it's my favorite.

Craiger & Canyon got a pinocchio & a bee.

Hooray for FINALLY having a home, a bed, a kitchen, & toys again.
