Lorien's Fall Orchestra Concert

Just like Cadence, Lorien had her first orchestra concert in October as well.  We were SO excited that Opa & Oma could join us & watch her perform.

Lorien loves playing cello.  She is SO good at it & I just love listening to & watching her play.

Here are some videos of her concert songs:

One thing I'm super excited about is that the music teacher at the High School here really tries to give these kids amazing opportunities to use their musical talents.  There is a program in Europe called Creative Connections where high school aged kids are sent for 6 days to work on their talent.  This year's Creative Connections included a String Ensemble, Show Choir, Theater, Film & Editing, Art, Dance, & more.  Only about 150-160 kids are accepted into the event out of several hundred applications.  In the String Ensemble, only 29 were chosen.  Lorien's orchestra teacher helped her apply.  We had to fill out an application (similar to a college application), with 3 essays that Lorien had to write herself.  Then she had to prepare an audition video of herself playing scales, arpeggios, & a selected cello excerpt (that was extremely difficult) to send in.  It took about a month just to get the application together.  Much to our excitement, Lorien was chosen to play cello in Creative Connections. . . only 6 cellists from the entire European region were chosen.  We are SO proud of her.

She did an amazing job as always.  This girl makes my heart sing.  I love her so much.
