Bladen's Lego 7th Birthday Party

Another Lego birthday!!!  This makes my 3rd Lego party.  At least I have it down to an art at this point.  However, this was my first BOY'S lego party so I got to at least change the colors up a bit this time.

For the invites, I got our old Lego Duplo pieces & built them into 4 rows about 6 inches in length, then wrote all the party information on the actual lego pieces.  I took the pieces apart & put them in a little bag & took them to Bladen's friends.  They thought it was the coolest invitation they had ever seen.  It really was cute.

I used a tablecloth & plates on my front door to make a giant lego so everyone knew which house the party was at.

We have an amazing candy store near our house that has lego candies so I made a "guess how many legos are in this jar" game.

A new trick I learned this time around was that Amazon sells lego people from China super cheap.  I got 20 random lego people for $5.  Granted it takes 2 months to get to you, but I ordered early & boy was it fun for the kids at the party.

I also found some yellow buckets at our dollar store near the sandbox toys & decided to use a sharpie to draw lego faces on them & use them as goody bags.

Good luck finding a lego pinata.  I did find a Mario ? box piƱata & just added yellow plates to it to make it "somewhat" resemble a lego?

Bladen was SO happy & SO excited about his party.

I made lego cupcakes in his favorite lego colors.  I have a silicone lego mold that I used chocolate melts to make chocolate legos in & added them to the tops of the cupcakes.

To start the party off, we turned on the Lego movie while we waiting for everyone to arrive.  I also had some lego coloring pages set out.  It cracked me up that all the girls colored & all the boys watched the movie.

The main game for our party was a lego buiding game.  I let each guest pull a lego person out of my bowl (the ones I ordered off Amazon) & they had to create a story/setting for their lego guy.  I poured a bunch of legos in the middle of the room & they got right to work.

They could have done this for hours.  I'm not kidding.  I had to pry the legos from their hands & MAKE them go get cake & ice cream.  Seriously, if you're ever doing a lego party, just pour legos out & let them build for 2 hours.  They'll do it & they'll love every minute of it.

They were all SO creative too.  They had full on stories of what they built & what their creations did.

The pinata was a big hit too, once we pried them all from the legos.  Being a bunch of 7 year olds, they knocked it open pretty fast though.

Bladen's favorite part was eating cake & ice cream.  He was SO proud of those lego cupcakes & it made me SO happy.  What a sweet little guy.

He has made some really good friends here in CA.  He got some really fun presents for his birthday.

Overall, it was a very simple, yet fun party.  I'm glad he loved it.

Happy Birthday Bladen!

  1. I found your blog because of the Lego parties you threw for your girls. I loved that they were super cute and not overly complicated. My oldest is turning 5 in August, and she loves Legos. So we are going to be throwing her a Lego Friends party. Thanks for all the great ideas!

    1. How exciting. Even a few years later, my girls STILL love their Lego friends, & now the Lego Disney Princesses & the Lego Elves series. Best of luck in your party for your sweet daughter. :-)
