Birmingham Zoo

Craiger only had one field trip this year for 2nd grade.  I signed up to be a chaperone for this trip ages before it actually happened.  I promised him I'd be at his only field trip.  I felt SO bad that his field trip fell on the same day as Taya's talent show.

However, we had a blast.  His field trip was at the Birmingham Zoo.  We had a rough start.  What usually takes about an hour to drive took over 3 hours due to construction on the freeway & on the zoo itself.  Instead of starting our field trip at 9 am as planned, we weren't exiting the buses until close to noon.  We had to leave the zoo by 1:30, so it was a mad dash to see "all we could see" in an hour & a half.

I was in charge of Craiger & a sweet little girl that just moved into the school district.  She was very quiet, but adorable.  She had never been to a zoo before so she loved it. . . once she realized everything was in cages where they couldn't eat you.

We literally did a mad dash around the entire zoo trying to see everything we could possibly see in one hour.  And the kids loved it.  It was a race to the animals & they enjoyed the excitement.

I loved being with Craiger & spending that one on one time with him.

His favorite animal was the red panda.  Look how cute they are together.

At the very end of our trip, I let them both ride the carousel.  They got a kick out of it.

Even though it was short lived, we had a blast together.
