Once we shipped the van, we were down to 2 cars. . . Cadence's purple car my parents gave her (it was my grandmother's before she passed away) & Trek's little Honda Fit. We decided we would ship Cadence's car even though it would cost us nearly $2000 to get it to Germany just so we'd have a 2nd vehicle there. Trek's car couldn't be shipped because we are leasing it & the lease doesn't carry out of country. The plan was to drive both cars until school got out, then take Cadence's car to the port to ship it. We'd just survive off of Trek's tiny 5 passenger car (making 2 trips everywhere we go) until we leave for Germany in June. Well, things always happen the way they are meant to, even if it's not what we imagined or planned.
A few days after we shipped our van, Cadence was driving to Montgomery to go to a friend's music recital when she got rear ended by a bunch of teens who weren't paying attention to the road. They felt AWFUL. We feel blessed that Cadence was not hurt at all. Her car, on the other hand, was totaled. The damage done to our car & to the the teen's car was crazy. This accident should have been a lot worse than it was. Cadence walked away without a single pain or scratch. The 3 teens in the other car had to go to the hospital, but ended up being okay in the end.

Our car was declared a total loss & unfortunately, we now only have the van on the way to Germany. We will have to figure out what to do about a 2nd vehicle once we get there. But on the plus side, Cadence was not injured at all, we got more than what the car was even worth from the insurance, & we don't have to pay $2000 to ship it to Germany. So overall, I think we came out on top.
Everything happens for a reason so I really truly believe this whole experience was a blessing in disguise. We are SO grateful everyone involved was okay & that the only damage was to the cars.
Life is short. Hold on to your loved ones & always say "I LOVE YOU."
